  • The MAGA Murder Bill and Defending Healthcare

In this first hour, Maggie unpacks the devastating implications of the so-called "MAGA Murder Bill" with guests Rep. Renuka Mayadev and Tanya Atkinson, President of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin. This hour explores how the bill threatens to dismantle healthcare access across Wisconsin—through Planned Parenthood defunding and deep Medicaid cuts—endangering maternal and infant health in particular. Rep. Mayadev outlines her bold self-help legislation designed to counteract Trump-era federal overreach by hitting it financially. Atkinson emphasizes the essential, often life-saving services Planned Parenthood provides, especially in rural communities. As the threat of a nationwide abortion ban looms, the conversation becomes a powerful rallying cry to resist political control over deeply personal healthcare decisions.

  • A Choice Between Leadership and Legacy

Guest hosts Angela Lang, Dan Schafer, and Matt Rothschild explore the future of Democratic leadership in Wisconsin. With the possibility of a third term for Governor Tony Evers on the horizon, they weigh the tension between experienced leadership and the urgent need to elevate fresh, energized voices. Drawing parallels to the national conversation around Joe Biden’s re-election campaign, the discussion highlights the growing demand for generational change in the face of escalating crises. They make a compelling case for real primaries, authentic grassroots engagement, and leadership that’s unafraid to confront creeping fascism while uniting a broad, diverse coalition under the Democratic banner.

  • Protests, Politics, and Party Leadership: A Wisconsin Wake-Up Call

Angela Lang and Dan Schafer are today's guest hosts. They begin this hour by breaking down the intensifying protests in Los Angeles over ICE raids, as Trump deploys the National Guard and flirts with martial law. Matt Rothschild warns of creeping authoritarianism, spotlighting Trump’s dangerous obsession with military force and its collision with democratic norms. They also call out misleading media narratives and elevates the importance of peaceful protest and civic vigilance. Rep. Darrin Madison from Wisconsin's 10th District also joins to discuss the Democratic Party chair race—and the urgent need for a leader who can harness grassroots energy to counter Trump’s agenda.

  • Chaos, Courts, and the Crisis at the Border

Maggie and guest co-host Matt Rothschild confront the escalating immigration crisis, analyzing the unprecedented deployment of active military forces to Los Angeles in response to protests sparked by Trump-era policies. With expert insight from Erin Barbato, Director of the Immigrant Justice Clinic at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, they explore the murky legality of sanctuary cities, aggressive ICE tactics, and the complex legal barriers facing immigrants. Maggie and Matt also discuss the broader systemic failures—most notably a paralyzed Congress, made worse by gerrymandering—that have stalled meaningful immigration reform. As authoritarian impulses rise and misinformation spreads, Maggie and Matt stress the urgent need for nonviolent resistance, civic engagement, and the defense of civil liberties to protect American democracy.

  • A Democracy on Edge

Chaos erupts as President Trump deploys the National Guard and U.S. Marines to Los Angeles in response to peaceful protests against ICE deportation raids. Maggie and guest co-host Matt Rothschild dives into the alarming federal escalation. They spend this hour trying to unpack Trump’s use of a rarely invoked legal provision that allows federalization of troops without state consent. This unprecedented move sparks widespread concern over creeping authoritarianism, with legal experts warning of the potential slide toward martial law. Maggie underscores the power of nonviolent protest and the need for legal, peaceful resistance. As tensions rise, she and Matt call for unwavering vigilance and unity to defend democracy against the threat of authoritarian overreach.

We started off our Civic Media Spotlight with Civic Media Sports Director Jimmie Kaska joining the Todd Allbaugh Show to walk through the latest changes to the WIAA rules. After, we head to Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba joined by Todd Michaels. Todd and Pete talk about Oshkosh restaurants and Todd talks about a place he might have gone to before called Leons Custard.

Later on in the spotlight, Kate Duffy, the founder of Motherhood For Good joins the Matenaer on Air show, along with Pat Kreitlow to talk about a video she posted breaking down a discussion that was had between Luann Bird and Wisconsin Assembly Speaker, Robin Vos. • Civic Media Spotlight (Hour 1)

To kick off this beautiful spotlight of shows, Agricultural economist Dr. Chuck Nicholson from University of Wisconsin - Madison joins the Maggie Daun Show to explain how Trump-era tariffs continue to harm the state’s dairy industry, disrupt global trade partnerships, and squeeze family farms.

After that, we go to the John and Gordy in the Morning Show, where John has a story about Ron Johnson calling for the state of Wisconsin to lift its vaccination requirements for kids attending school. On the Pat Krietlow Show, Congressman Mark Pocan is asked about the literacy skills of his GOP colleagues, since it now seems many of them never read President Trump’s big, beautiful, bloated boondoggle that they voted for. He also talks about his recent visit to an ICE detention facility in Dodge County, where people are still being held secretly and without the due process our Constitution requires.

Finally, we hear from Maino & the Mayor reminiscing about D-Day, honoring the bravery and sacrifices of veterans with poignant stories from the front lines.

Dan Shafer joins Maggie for another edition of 'State Slate.' Dan breaks down the latest chaos in the Capitol as Wisconsin Republicans abruptly end budget negotiations. With real progress and rare compromises on the table, Governor Tony Evers now faces tough choices. Should he threaten a full veto if Medicaid expansion is excluded? Dan lays out what’s next as the GOP focuses on slashing critical programs for Wisconsin families. Then, it’s time for another lively round of 'Ask Maggie!' Producer Jamie joins the fun as Maggie answers your burning questions in :20, :30, or :60 seconds. From favorite summer drinks to the bizarre ideology of the "TheoBros," no topic is off limits. • Trump, Terrorism, and Tossing Bags

Maggie dives into the puzzling state of U.S. foreign policy, asking if Trump got played—again—as Israel cozies up to Russia. Then, eyebrows (literally) are raised as the Department of Homeland Security appoints 22-year-old Thomas Fugate—former grocery store clerk—to lead terrorism prevention. What qualifications does he bring beyond an ominous official photo? Plus, Gray Gunderson and Joel Karnick from WCQM drop in for “What’s Good, Local, and Overlooked.” Today’s topic? Cornhole (or bags, depending on your region). Joel gives the inside scoop on his semi-professional cornhole career, proving once again that Wisconsin fun is best served with friendly competition and a cold adult beverage.

  • Medicaid Myths and Billionaire Brawls

In this hour, Maggie unpacks the real-world consequences of the Republican-led “big brutal bill” with guest William Parke-Sutherland from Kids Forward. Together, they expose the false zero-sum narrative in public policy—the idea that helping marginalized communities somehow hurts others. Parke-Sutherland warns that proposed Medicaid cuts won’t save money—they’ll raise costs for everyone in Wisconsin through higher premiums and reduced services. Meanwhile, the surreal feud between Elon Musk and Donald Trump escalates, with Musk teasing the release of damaging photos. Maggie warns us to keeps the focus on the MAGA regime’s policies and their lasting harm to working families and the middle class.
