As a Harvard, Stanford, McKinsey, and Silicon Valley alumnae, Maggie's guest, Scott Ellis’ bio reads like a who’s who of America’s elite institutions, but this seemingly prototypical (very) rich white man says that we are thinking about wealth all wrong and that it’s time for America’s wealthiest citizens to admit that sometimes enough is enough. He is even a founding board member of an organization called the Excessive Wealth Disorder Institute.

  • It’s all about the money but what does that mean? (Hour 2)

Stephen Prince is an actual bootstrapped millionaire, and as such, he is advocating for taxing the rich more. It turns out that in a consumer economy, when the consumers have more money, the economy does better. As it also happens, greed is a thing.

By the way, good luck getting Trump or Vance to articulate specifics on their already-proven-wrong economic policies.

  • What is RICH? (and when is $1,000 more than $1,000,000?)

Seventy-one percent of Americans think the economy is rigged in favor of the rich and against working people. In the debut episode of Maggie and the Millionaires TALK MONEY, Patriotic Millionaire Stephen Prince says they are right. Prince explains how politicians of both parties rigged the economy in favor of wealthy political donors like him and what everyday people in Wisconsin and around the country can do to fix it.

Prince argues that if voters make MONEY the primary factor in casting their votes in November, they can wrestle control of the economy from wealthy elites once and for all, and ensure that working people have the economy they deserve regardless of what political party is in charge. He’s here to help. But to be effective change-makers for themselves and their communities, voters must ask the right questions, and demand answers from their elected representatives. Why haven’t lawmakers raised the wage floor in 15 years? Why do rich people get a 50% off coupon on their taxes? When is $1,000 more than $1 million? And why does all this matter?

Americans disagree on pretty much everything these days – guns, immigration, transgender athletes, abortion, you name it. But regardless of political party, most working people agree that we have a MONEY problem in the United States – more specifically, that a handful of wealthy people have too much of it and millions of working people have too little of it. Lawmakers need to raise the wage floor so the middle class has a strong foundation to stand on and so businesses have customers with money to spend. The tax system values every dollar a rich person makes over every dollar a regular person makes. No wonder everyone is so ticked off!

This debut episode of TALK MONEY will put you in the driver's seat of the economy. Listen in!

  • Civic Media Spotlight for August 24th & 25th (Hour 1)

To begin this week's Civic Media Spotlight, Jane, Greg and Calvin welcome Matt Randolph aka Mr. Global to the show. He has over 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Currently, he has found his audience on social media, specifically TikTok breaking down the truths, the lies and the busting the myths on all things energy.

Then, on Maino & the Mayor, Burkel's One Block Over is hosting an event this Saturday with the organization "As You Were". The group connects with veterans and writes songs about their experiences. We were joined by James Fitzgerald, James Goodletson, who is a veteran, and singer/songwriter Jason Sever. Jason shares two great songs that he's written and recorded. If you listen to these songs and don't feel moved, we're not sure you even have a pulse.

UpNorthNews Radio hears from three women attending the Democratic convention on behalf of their home counties up north. We’ll discuss the impact of new legislative maps that undo years of Republican cheating and we’ll assess a proposal from GOP Congressman Tom Tiffany to turn the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore into a national park. True to form, Tiffany’s proposal appears meant to benefit developers, not our natural resources.

Finally, on the John & Gordy Show, Mike McCabe joins the show to discuss the upcoming move to BRT in Madison and the show remembers Phil Donahue who passed away this week.

  • Talking the talk, walking the walk, doing the work.(Hour 2)

Matt Rothschild guest hosts for Maggie today as she recovers from the DNC. For four days, we've been reveling in the excitement for the newly formed Democratic Presidential ticket. That enthusiasm is due. AND, now it's time to focus on the down-ballot. In that spirit, two down-ballot candidates join us this hour.

Christian Phelps, Democratic candidate for Wisconsin's 93rd Assembly seat. He chose to enter the political game to bring true representation of the region he knows has not had true legislative choice for too long. With new maps, it's time for change.

Dr. Kristin Lyerly is a board certified OB/GYN. And, she's running for Wisconsin's 8th Congressional District as a Democrat. Dr. Lyerly shares the energy she felt at the DNC. Now, she's ready to take action on her platform of compassionate care for all.
