Maggie is out for the week, but filling in expertly is James Santelle, host of Civic Media's weekend law show Amicus. Santelle navigates through critical legal updates, including a pivotal Supreme Court ruling on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's constitutionality. Understand the implications of this 7-2 decision penned by Justice Clarence Thomas and its potential ripple effects on federal agencies. Santelle also provides an in-depth analysis of the ongoing trial of former President Donald Trump, featuring testimony from key witness Michael Cohen.
Maggie is joined for this hour by Navy veteran, small business owner, and former congressional candidate, Tom Palzewicz. They discuss money in politics and the inevitable corruption it causes, while still emphasizing that the majority of people working in government are good people. Maggie ends the show on a positive note, discussing the story of Vel Philips to commemorate the statue being built in her honor at the capital building in Madison.
Maggie forecasts what the federal judiciary would like under a second Donald Trump presidency using a right-wing think tank's short list of potential Supreme Court candidates. On this list are the man behind "enhanced interrogation doctrine," several who are participating in the Columbia Law School boycotts, and many other unsavory individuals. She also takes a look at court decisions made by Trump appointees, including the overturn of Roe v Wade.
Peter Burgelis, newly-minted county supervisor, joins Maggie for this second hour of investigating the age-old question, what makes a GOOD elected official?
Additionally, Maggie breaks apart Trump's wishlist for his Supreme Court picks, should he ever see the inside of the Oval Office again.
