Australia is rolling out a suite of AI-equipped cameras that can automatically detect when a driver uses their cell phone while behind the wheel. The cameras use automated high-definition cameras to look inside your car, and then artificial intelligence scans the image looking for a cell phone. Unlike photo radar, which only looks at licence plates, these cameras are taking high-resolution pictures of the insides of passing cars, and are set up on overpasses to observe at a downward angle. Some are already criticizing the new program, saying it might be used to generate nearly a billion in revenue each year, while others are calling it an invasion of privacy and worry about how the images will be stored, archived, and accessed by police. What do you think? Is the extra safety benefit worth the potential risks? Should we start a similar program here? Give us a call at 1-877-332-8255 and join the conversation!
