Long-time SGEU President Bob Bymoen was set to be suspended last week by the union's Membership, Constitution and Legislation Committee due to "most egregious behavior that undermines our Code of Ethics, harassment policy, constitution, policy manual and union values." The committee found Bymoen had made comments to another SGEU staff member that he would like to see Arlen Nickel, a terminated union member with whom he had a strained relationship, "stay fired." The committee also found he used his position to deny Nickel representation in order to do him harm. The committee recommended Bymoen be suspended for two years, but the decision was overturned as there was no hearing.
