Activists have spent years advocating for Lucy, the 42-year-old lone elephant at the Edmonton Valley Zoo, in an attempt to get her moved to a warmer climate and arguing the Edmonton weather and her isolation are not in the animal's best interests. Animal rights groups recently tried to force the courts to review Lucy's conditions, but their attempt fell flat largely due to a legal technicality that doesn't allow outside groups to ask the courts to review a captive animal's conditions. Peter Sankoff, a U of A law professor and animal rights law expert, joins Drew now to discuss the case and why Lucy may remain "the coldest elephant in the world."
