We're officially a week away from the NHL trade deadline. Our Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal shares the latest on Luke Schenn, the team's desire to target young, right-shot defencemen, if a veteran goalie could be signed to backup Thatcher Demko next season and whether the Canucks are in on NCAA free agent Jake Livingstone. Ricky also shares a couple of young NHLers the team could look at acquiring. Jeff Paterson from Rink Wide: Vancouver tells whether he thinks Elias Pettersson has reached superstar status in the NHL. Jeff gives us his two cents on the Canucks' 3-2 overtime win over the Blues, including the debut of Aatu Räty. JPat questions the ice-time handed out by Rick Tocchet to some of the team's top players.

Matt and Blake discuss the debut of Aatu Räty, another start for Arturs Silovs, when Thatcher Demko might return and perhaps the final few games for Brock Boeser in a Canucks uniform. Frank Corrado joins and reveals that his go-to, in-game snack was peanut butter toast between periods, not bananas and Pepsi on the bench. Frank also discusses the career evolution of Luke Schenn & Boeser as well as previewing tomorrow's Giants-Cougars game at the LEC where three first-round prospects (and potential Canucks picks) face-off. Rob Williams returns from a month-long holiday and argues the time isn't right to trade Boeser. The guys also discuss the new First Nations' jerseys...another beauty collaboration between the team and artist.

Matt and Blake discuss whether Vasily Podkolzin is in play before the trade deadline, the curious recall of Aatu Räty and the possible destinations for Brock Boeser and Luke Schenn. Darren Dreger (Ray & Dregs) stops by and is asked if a JT Miller deal is realistic, while telling us that a Boeser-Schenn package could well be possible. Jeff Paterson (Rink Wide: Vancouver) on the bloated ice-times for Canucks stars in Nashville, and how that computes with head coach Rick Tocchet preaching less is more when he took over. And on the future of Tyler Myers, if there is an NHL future.

Matt and Blake digest a newsy weekend for the Canucks where J.T. Miller's name is getting some action amid trade rumours. They discuss the difficulty of making trades for players with term and money, prospect trades and the Canucks being a trade brokers (like the Minnesota Wild were with Ryan O'Reilly and the Leafs). Patrick Johnston stops by to weighing on Andrei Kuzmenko's mid-game snack, Elias Pettersson's five-point night and hesitancy to take on the Canucks captaincy. He also reveals what he's heard regarding the Canucks' price in any Miller deal.

Setbacks aplenty for the Canucks as Thatcher Demko suffers a tweak in practice and won't be able to backup Saturday as planned, and Tanner Pearson heads to LTIR.
Matt and Blake discuss Demko's injury, Luke Schenn's future, as well as prospects Nils Högalnder and Aidan McDonough with Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal. The Welcome Matt delves into the similarities between new Canucks coach Rick Tocchet and ex-Canucks coach John Tortorella. And Ryan Gauld of the Whitecaps stops by with the team prepping for next week's MLS season opener.

Plenty to talk about with Arturs Silovs making his first start, a rehabilitated Andrei Kuzmenko back on the top line, the next Jack Rathbone look-see, and new names in the trade rumour mill (JT Miller, Nils Höglander). Matt and Blake discuss all that, as well as welcoming guests Frank Corrado and Jeff Paterson (Rink Wide: Vancouver). Corrado tells the story of how he was *responsible* for Robidas Island, Jeff argues that last night was the wrong spot for Silovs.

Matt and Blake discuss Rick Tocchet's "back to school" practice and his willingness to communicate clearly (and harshly) during his brief tenure as head coach of the Canucks. The guys also talk goaltending after hearing from Thatcher Demko, and with Arturs Silovs making his first NHL start. Darren Dreger (Ray & Dregs) stops by to talk trade deadline, and how the market is stuck right now, with many of the bigger-ticket players with term more likely to move in the summer. And new B.C. Lion Michael Couture is coming home! The SFU and Centennial product signed with the Leos in free agency after winning a couple of championships in Winnipeg. He's the next in the club's long lineage of BC-bred centres.

Busy show with Rick Tocchet blasting the Canucks for another poor defensive effort in a 6-1 loss to Detroit Monday; and the B.C. Lions diving into CFL free agency.
Jeff Paterson discusses if this is the low point for the Canucks, where the goaltending is going, and whether the new Brock Boeser (more points, fewer goals) is still attractive on the trade market. Patrick Johnston on Tocchet going old-school with vows to fix fitness and fundamentals, and whether that coaching style can work with modern athletes.

Matt and Blake unpack a great day's entertainment: the game, the anthem, the halftime show, the finish and the aftermath from Sunday's Super Bowl. Farhan Lalji stops by from Arizona to breakdown what happened -- and didn't happen -- in Kansas City's narrow victory over Philadelphia. Did the Eagles rush Mahomes enough, especially after he aggravated that ankle injury. John Shannon joins to give us his two cents on the Super Bowl production as a former executive producer of live sporting events. John also comments on the Canucks on the block: Luke Schenn and Tyler Myers, as well as discussing Bruce Boudreau's future.
