  • March 8 2022 - Patrick Johnston, Jeff Paterson & Gregg Bell
Patrick Johnston of the Province and Post Media joined us in his regular Tuesday slot. Says that this is the way you want to see teams play. With the exception of the game in Jersey, the others were thrillers. Talked about what Miller and Bruce could have been chatting about on the bench. Thinks there is a trust factor there with player and coach. His one to one people skills are quite evident. That’s probably all it was. Two guys, there, who like hockey. That’s what they could have been talking about. Talked about Jake Virtanen. He has a court date scheduled for tomorrow. Talked about the specialty jerseys that continue to be home runs.
Jeff Paterson joined us and right away pointed out the interesting schedule right now that has the Canucks with a few days off. However, looking forward to the Habs in town tomorrow. Talked about the majority of this home-stand being against out of conference opponents. Looking forward to getting back to normal, hopefully next year. Talked about what JT and Bruce could have been talking about. Talked more about JT Miller. Agreed that there is a bit of Kesler in him. Not always in a good mood but that is being human. Talked about Quinn Hughes saying this is the best team he has been on. JPat was a bit surprised because there have been some good stretches. Talked about the Habs and the troubles they are having getting offence from the d-core. They are last in the league, by a lot. Talked about the specialty jerseys.
Our Seahawks insider, Gregg Bell joined us on the day Russell Wilson got traded. Started off with a mea culpa after 2 years of saying this would never happen. Talked about Drew Lock. They have the resources to go out and get a better one than him. Could see a guy like Pete Carroll picking up DeShaun Watson but the moral and legal issues that would come with that, Gregg can’t see it happening. Thinks that Kenny Pickett will be the first QB to go, hand size be damned. Gregg is still trying to wrap his head around a 70 year old coach going through a rebuild. Hawks now have 35 millions more in cap than they did yesterday. Thinks that they will go out and sign Metcalf now. Talked about Noah Fant and Shelby Harris. Talked about the Broncos that Seattle didn’t get. Thinks that someone would have back up a bigger Brinks truck. Talked about how the 12’s are feeling. Says they are not happy. They are not ready for the rebuild.

  • March 7 2022 - John Shannon & Jeff Paterson
John Shannon, our Monday NHL Insider, joined us in his regular slot. Talked about Leafs vs Canucks. Says that the game vs the Habs will be difficult. MTL is playing well and it’s the first game back from a road trip. St. Louis has the team playing well without thinking about it. Talked about goaltending. Doesn’t see Mike Smith playing another game in EDM. Talked about the Predators. Can’t see Poile try to rebuild. His patience has been remarkable over the years. Nobody loves making a trade on the deadline than him. John thinks we are going to see a lot of three team deals this year. Teams with cap space that make things happen and get draft picks out of it. Says we will never see a Stanley Cup handed out in May ever again. The networks prioritize their big shows. Talked about trading Miller. Says Miller is an engine. You don’t get rid of guys like that. When playoffs come around they want to be in a good spot on not worry about who their opponents are going to be. Talked about how to not switch it off. Blake took issue with Rick reporting that agents have a problem with Canucks twitter. Rick fired back with keep the personal stuff out of it. • March 3 2022 - Colin Miller & Scott Rintoul
Our Thursday regular, Scott Rintoul joined Matt and Blake. Talked about JT Miller. Believes that his value won’t necessarily decrease as the deadline looms, Talked about Bo Horvat. Says his numbers aren’t for a lack of effort. The leadership changes with the times. Talked about Connor Garland. If this is a team that gets into the playoffs, this is a player that would show up. Talked about how the forwards should be deployed. Talked about the Whitecaps. Talked about the importance of hand size for QB’s. Says this isn’t a thing and it’s so much to do about nothing.
Whitecaps Colour Commentator, Colin Miller joined Matt and Blake ahead of the weekend clash vs NYCFC. Says the Caps have to be at their best vs the defending champions. We need to see more aggression and passion for the jersey. Talked about how they should deploy tactically. Thinks Hasal is going to be a good goalkeeper. Doesn’t think he is a defined number one keeper yet. For the most part he hasn’t let the club down. When you’ve had one of the top 2 or 3 keepers in the league then put a young lad in, it’s the deep end. Saying they need a better keeper isn’t a criticism of Hasal but someone with more experience wouldn’t be a bad thing. Talked about being a member of the only Canadian team to qualify for the world cup. Tony Waiters only took 18 players down and he was one of the four that were left in Vancouver. Talked about this version of the mens national team on the verge of qualification. This is arguably the most entertaining Canada side. Says the timing is good with other teams in the region being so poor. Talked about John Herdman. Says he is the best at detail. Working with him, you think you are going to war with how much preparation there is.

  • March 2 2022 - Darren Dreger & Jeff Paterson
Talked about the TSN trade bait board. Talked about how Garland and Boeser moved ahead of JT Miller. In Garland, Dregs doesn’t think there is a rush to move him. Doesn’t know if the Canucks see him as a longterm fit. Sometimes you swap pieces and if you can shed some cap-space, there will be some interest from management. Talked about the status of Jake DeBrusk and Mark Giordano. Francis is hoping for a first rounder for MG. Talked about Hampus Lindholm. Thinks there is no rush to sign with the Ducks. He has earned the right to see what the market looks like. He will get paid a lot of money. Doesn’t know where they are at in negotiations. Dregs not buying that Verbeek will go out and trade him if a deal isn’t signed. He is a pretty good piece. Talked about Ovechkin and his ties to Putin. It’s distasteful to all of us that his insta avatar has Putin in it. Talked about how his reputation could be tarnished by this connection. When we start diving into the corners of personal lives, it gets a little dicey. Says it will be the federal governments that have to step in if players are to be removed from their teams through this occupation.
Our Canucks reporter, Jeff Paterson joined us in his regular spot. Talked about line combinations going into the blender. Talked about the New York Islanders and how they stack up. Talked about Canucks on the trading block. Understands why Garland would be a bit peeved to hear his name. Talked about the culture of this team. This year, as in other Covid years, is tough to gauge. If you want to talk about leadership troubles, the easiest way to address is to ship the captain out.
