Robin Fuller knows firsthand. After more than 23 years in pregnancy center ministry, she burned out and heard that only about 10 percent of ministry leaders finish well.
She decided to be part of that 10 percent. Robin lifted the mantle off her shoulders in front of her board and walked through a four-year succession plan that started with a simple "Things I Do" document.
Matt and Robin talk about why founders struggle most, how a poverty mindset keeps leaders in the seat too long, and why outgoing leaders need to step away for at least six months. Robin also shares her new book, Finish Well: Succession Planning for the Ministry You Love.
Key Takeaways1. Succession starts long before you leave. Robin spent four years working with her board so the ministry could continue without a blip.
2. Write down what you actually do. A simple "Things I Do" list shows what to release, what to delegate, and what the next leader will need.
3. Know what will be missing when you are gone. Robin knew finances were not her gift, so she looked for a successor who was strong where she was not.
4. Pay and plan for your people. Fair pay and retirement planning keep leaders from staying too long just because they cannot afford to leave.
5. Give your successor room. Robin now encourages every outgoing leader to stay away for at least six months and to hand pride back to the Lord.

This life contains many walks from Cana to Capernaum. Journeys between prayer offered and prayer answered. Jesus promised the boy’s father a sure blessing at the end of the journey. He promises the same to us.
We will meet this father when we get to heaven, and when we do I’m gonna ask him about that walk. I want to hear how he felt. I want to know what he thought. But most of all, I want to thank him for inspiring this verse: “The man took Jesus at his word and departed” (John 4:50 NIV).
Do likewise. Set your compass on the pole star of God’s promise. Place one weary foot in front of the other. Jesus has spoken. Let his word do what it was intended to do, and that is lead you home. Remember my friend, you are never alone.

What does it look like to build a life that God can multiply through generations?
In this episode of Leader-to-Leader: The Multiplication Factor, Lindy Black, Senior Advisor to the U.S. leadership team with The Navigators, shares how a lifelong commitment to prayer, Scripture, Sabbath, and relational discipleship shaped her leadership—and produced fruit far beyond what she could have imagined.

Lindy explores the importance of creating intentional space to hear from God and describes discipleship as intentional, relational, and generational—helping people know Christ, make Him known, and equip others to do the same.

In the semifinals of his high school wrestling tournament, Dave cracked a rib on his right side. He won the match but wondered how he’d survive the championship with a damaged ribcage. In the finals, Dave limped out to the mat on his left, uninjured leg.
Traders Point Christian Church's staff culture was once, in Greg Anderson's own words, "barely healthy." Since then, they've built a healthy, flourishing workplace culture — and the church itself has become one of the fastest-growing in the country.
Executive Pastor Greg Anderson makes the case that those two facts are directly connected. He traces the turning point back to the humbling season after COVID, when an Employee Engagement Survey revealed a real disconnect: leadership thought the church's direction was clear, but staff didn't share that clarity. Greg discusses what his team changed in response, work that moved Traders Point into Best Christian Workplaces' flourishing range and earned it recognition as a Certified Best Christian Workplace. For any leader hoping to grow without it costing the staff who carry the mission, this conversation is worth the listen.
