We look into the background of some of the people mentioned in William Gell's 1906 poem, 'Mannin Veg Veen : A Poetical Sketch of the Isle of Man'. We hear of Samuel Harris, Richard Sherwood and Thomas Kneen, before moving on to some of the Lieutenant-Governor's - Hope, Pigott and Loch - whose terms of office showed the change of the seat of power from Castletown to Douglas.
