They discuss why she decided to move to Alaska, growing up deaf in a deaf family, why she attended Gallaudet University, the challenges for those who grow up deaf in a non-deaf family, her experiences in Juneau during session advocating for a bill for deaf and hard of hearing people, some of the things deaf people do to adapt to the hearing world, and how she met her fiancée, who is not deaf.
