Geeta Nadkarni, the founder of Impact with Influence, speaks about the importance of taking time to think about what you want, how to get it, and what it will achieve. She talks with Gary about how she will block out time in her calendar to ask pointed questions and then think about the answer. Not only does she consider what she wants, but also what getting that ‘want’ will accomplish. She then recommends considering whether there is a more efficient way to achieve that outcome. This process is best explained in her book ‘How To Live Your Vision’. She leaves off the podcast with the powerful question “How is Covid-19 the best thing that has happened to me?”
Gary and Dino discuss the past year and a half, the changes in business structure, and people’s reaction to the Covid-19 pandemic. Dino discusses his experiences as a consultant during Covid-19, and how people can prepare for business post-pandemic. Embracing virtual methods of doing business, whether via Zoom meetings or large-scale online conferences, allows for the opportunity to see how companies can expand and scale their businesses through these virtual mediums. Dino also talks about the need for proactive planning, as well as forward momentum. Don’t wait for things to settle back to the way they were before; the ‘good old days’ are ahead of you.
This episode of Clarity Generates Confidence focuses on a different aspect of the pandemic from previous episodes. This week, Gary speaks with Marshal Sterio, the Founder and CEO of Surgically Clean Air. Marshal saw a niche for commercial air purification back in 2010, and has developed his company into the #1 dental air purifier in North America, with expanding reach into additional industries due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Marshal discusses the importance of proper air ventilation, and the shocking statistic that 100% of air particles in the home have a man-made chemical attached to them.
In this episode of Clarity Generates Confidence, Gary speaks with friend, Tiger, about the effect that Covid-19 has had on production, freight costs, and the supply chain in general. Tiger speaks about the upheaval in freight methods he’s witnessed since the beginning of the pandemic, with shortages in shipping containers and an increase in air shipments. He wisely notes that there are three things that will always occur in the world; war, pandemic, and famine. We’ve indeed seen these all in the past, and have seen the results, both good and bad. One positive Tiger notes is that with working from home, he has been able to see his family more regularly than before, which is something everyone should be able to relate to.
Listen in while Gary chats with friend, James, across 12 time zones in China. James shares a new view-point on the pandemic that we have yet to hear on this podcast series. Having had his life impacted by Covid since December of 2019, James has developed almost philosophical views on the changing world. The biggest change James speaks to is in the communication style and the measurement of distance. Being able to connect worldwide through video messaging has shifted the perspective on how we read distance. James also points out that even pre-pandemic, we were living in an uncertain world every day, and how we must focus on the moment we’re in, and really enjoy it.
This week, Gary is joined by Angelo Lyall, VP of Business Development at Canada Rubber. Together, they explore the way the Covid pandemic has affected the workforce, and what changes they expect to see as we move forward in 2021 and 2022. Angelo speaks about the surprising shift he experienced in his position, with more of a focus on being sensitive to other people’s mental state vs. solely their job productivity. With factories and workplaces open throughout the pandemic, he was able to create a place where people could keep a sense of community and take their mind off other problems. Angelo and Gary also reflect on the differences in response to the pandemic between Canada and the United States, and how that has affected the countries’ economies.
Listen this week to Rob Marr as he shares his thoughts on businesses moving into a post-pandemic world. Rob speaks to culture shifts in organizations, and placing more value on employees and their needs. He refers to a ‘new normal business area’ in which companies who spend the most time thinking about how they can add value for their client will win the game. We need to start being proactive with clients, offering solutions to problems they don’t know exist rather than waiting on requests.
Stephanie Warren, co-founder of the Warren Insurance Group, works with companies such as GCP to set up their group benefits and life insurance plans. Listen to this week’s podcast to hear about her experiences during Covid and what changes she has witnessed in the industry. Stephanie has seen a shift in the importance of benefit packages being used to attract high-quality employees, as well as gearing benefits packages towards the demographic of a company’s employee base. The shift to work-from-home and a less structured workday (no longer 9-5) has opened up a world of possibilities for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
Join entrepreneur extraordinaire, Mike Koenig's, as he talks about his experiences during Covid-19, the changes he has experienced, both in business and personal life, and the growing effects of cryptocurrency on the world as a whole. He also delivers a crash course in the rise and usage of cryptocurrency if you’ve ever wanted to know more about digital currencies.
