  • S3.E79 - [SOLO] Do You REALLY Understand How Marketing Works ? How About Advertising ? Let's Test Your Knowledge

Marketing is a significant driver of hyper-consumption. It creates and perpetuates a culture of constantly wanting more.

Through advertising, companies promote the idea that consumers need the latest and greatest products to be happy or successful, leading people to buy more and more things that they may not necessarily need.

Marketing also creates a sense of urgency or FOMO (fear of missing out) that drives people to consume more quickly and frequently.

For example, limited-time offers, flash sales and other marketing tactics all create a sense of urgency and encourage people to make impulsive purchases.

In addition, marketing creates a sense of identity and belonging around specific products or brands. Consumers may feel like they are part of a certain group or community by owning a particular product or shopping at a specific store. This further drives hyper-consumption, as people may feel the need to constantly buy new products to maintain their sense of identity or belonging.

Marketing makes people buy things that they don’t need.

As a marketer, we are taught to exaggerate things to make them sound better, but is there another way to navigate this complex field ? Can one be an ethical marketer ?

    Let’s talk about it

    • S3.E74 - What's the Deal with The Current Climate Crisis How Much of a Threat Is It Going to Be On Humanity and OUR KIDS ? Let's Break It Down !

The current situation regarding the climate is very alarming.

Floods, historic temperature peaks, fires, draughts, burning forests, hunger, immigration, all this is becoming the new normal !! And yet, not many seem to bat an eye.

The current situation regarding the climate is a cause for concern, with many scientists and experts warning of the dangers of global warming and its impact on the planet.

The evidence shows that the earth's temperature has risen significantly over the past century, and that this trend is likely to continue unless action is taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change.

The effects of climate change are already being felt in many parts of the world, including rising sea levels, increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events such as hurricanes, floods, and droughts, and shifts in ecosystems and wildlife populations.

There is also evidence to suggest that climate change is linked to human activities, particularly the food and animal exploitation industry, burning of fossil fuels for energy and transportation.

Let’s discuss our very own future and livelihood.
