Here's a beautiful promo copy of this amazing recording. When this one came out, most radio programmers approached it as a novelty tune... which it was, of course... novel, that is. Today it's obviously just an incredibly great Reggae track. The flip is an instrumental version of the song. Note: This 45 record comes in a vintage Ampex Records factory sleeve. It has Mint labels, and the vinyl looks almost untouched. The powerful audio is pristine Mint (the mp3 snippet is a representative sound file from our archive... this copy has no surface noise that I noted).

This was Marvin Gaye's first single after asserting creative control over his recorded work. What most don't realize is that the 45 rpm release was a different mix than the 3:51 LP cut... and different from what you find on today's stereo reissues. The drums and percussion are mixed much more prominently, while the strings are toned down. The single edits out the jive talk at the beginning of the LP cut, but adds an odd fadeout-surprise fadein right at the ending. There are other differences as well — for example, the LP cut adds finger-popping that's absent from the 45 version. Listening to this version is like hearing this one for the first time! There were several variations of the label released by different 45 pressing plants: This attractive variant uses black ink for the label type (see scan). Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Motown Records factory sleeve. The record grades very close to Mint in all respects (Label, Vinyl, Audio).

God, I love this song! Nothing but the best 1970s Soul from beginning to end! This is a beautiful copy of the second pressing, on the orange Volt label (first pressing was on blue Volt label). This single's A side — the hit version of the song — is slightly edited from a 3:56 album track. Note: This copy has a small drillhole in the deadwax, but the labels are otherwise pristine. The vinyl grades close to Mint in appearance, and the audio, I'm pleased to say, is a glorious, pristine Mint! ( This scan is a representative image from our archives, but this copy has a different text layout and doesn't show the drillhole on the labels.)

Here's a beautiful promo copy (vinyl pressing) of this very rare and very desirable Garage Rock classic. This is the first time a copy like this has passed through my hands since opening the store in 2001! And as far as I can determine, this is the only vinyl output by this Connecticut band... no other singles or albums! The B side is also an excellent rocker. Note: This white-label promo 45 comes in a vintage Atco Records factory sleeve. The labels have a little staining (see scan), and the A label has some small writing as well. However, the vinyl looks hardly touched, and the audio grades Near Mint overall. The A side audio does have a touch of peak-level wear, though that seems missing from the B side which is closer to Mint.

From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy. This 45 has a dramatically edited version of the 10:27 album track. By the way, both this rarely heard single, and "That Girl" were non-album singles that were previously unreleased until gathered into Wonder's 2-album Greatest Hits compilation released in 1982. Note: This is the black-text version, not the version shown in the scan, which is a representative image from our archive.

This terrific Funky Soul dancer comes in two versions on this 45 — a "Short Version" at 4:03 and a "Long Version" at 5:07. Well worth seeking out! Check out the mp3 "snippet" of it for a tasty morsel. By the way, it appears that this singer had no albums, so you gotta buy the single! Note: This beautiful copy has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio). After a deep clean, pristine Mint sound!

This promo copy has the same Stereo version on both sides. And what a song it is! The Everly's last hurrah, this unsung classic features the perfect pop sensibilities of Paul McCartney, who wrote the song, and the loving retro sensibilities of Dave Edmunds, who produced it. A perfect vehicle for the Everly Brothers, it's only fault is that it's just too short! How it failed to crack the top 40 in a year when retro rockabilly was still quite popular is an enduring mystery. It did just as poorly in the U.K.

Here's a beautiful copy of this early Sam Cooke classic... one of the nicest I've had in the store since opening in 2001! Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" to recall what a great tune this is. It comes in an EX copy of the release's cool picture sleeve. Note: The 45 itself grades has Mint labels and Near Mint vinyl and audio. The picture sleeve has moderate ringwear and some top-edge wear (see scan).

This is one of the nicest copies I've yet had in the store of this classic 1966 Motown-style Soul hit, penned by Edwin Starr, on the small Detroit label Impact (which Motown would later acquire). Probably recorded with Motown's session musicians. Note: This beautiful copy has Near Mint labels and vinyl (styrene), which has a couple of notable scuffs on the B side. The audio sounds pristine Mint! (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)

Don't look now, soul fans, but you may have missed out on a hidden treasure... Yes, "Sunny" is a fine pop-soul hit. Very nice indeed. But Bobby Hebb slipped a fast one on you by way of a little track called "Bread" on the flip side. Absolutely incredible. Turns out he isn't a light-soul singer at all... the man's a funky mutha! Note: This copy is a first pressing on the black Philips label (later issues were on the light blue label). Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Philips Records factory sleeve. It has pristine Mint audio!
