Mr. William C. Michael is the founding headmaster of the Classical Liberal Arts Academy. He graduated from Rutgers University with an honors degree in Classics & Ancient History and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Michael has worked in private education as a Classics teacher and administrator for over 20 years. He is a Roman Catholic homeschooling father of ten children, and keeper of a quiet family farm in North Carolina.

If we were to identify the place where a student moves from having the mind of a common man to that of a wise man, where would that place be?

Where have all the Christian writers gone? For centuries, Christians dominated literature--Augustine, Boethius, Dante, Chaucer, Shakespeare, the list goes in and on. Today, they're nowhere to be found. Science and Math-based education has robbed the world of its great poets and writers. In this talk, Mr. Michael discusses where Christians can go for inspiration in writing, that Christian literature might see a renewal.

The virtuous pagans were known for their lives which modeled the four "classical" virtues of Temperance, Justice, Fortitude and Prudence. This, however, is not the virtue of the Christian life. Modern Christians, failing to attain to the classical virtues pretend to have Christian virtues instead, but this is a lie, since "Faith without works is useless.". In this talk, we meditate on the Christian virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity and see how they cause a Christian's life to surpass the standards of the virtuous pagans.
