Liszt wrote his Berceuse in response or as a reaction to Chopin's Berceuse. Liszt choose the same key D-flat-major and his piece begins with the same key changes as in Chopin's Berceuses. However Liszt chose are slower pace with "Lento" instead of Chopin's Andante and uses more keys and modulations. This is the first/original version of Liszt's Berceuse without so much ornamentation and virtuos parts as in his reworked 2nd Edition.
