From Saucha, the first Niyama, one develops distaste for one’s body and the cessation of contact with others. Basically, once we see the body as a snot & poop filled vessel, we dont see it as an erotic and sensual body. Instead of trying to indulge or find sensual pleasure, we turn our efforts towards finding our true Soul self. Saucha is about letting go of any illusion that we have to look to or uphold any standard of societal value or beauty.
