Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Nevada Weather Podcast — it's Monday, February 23rd. And folks, Nevada is doing what it does best.. Being two completely different places at once.
Down in Las Vegas, you're waking up to 45 degrees and heading straight for 72 by 3 PM. That's 20 degrees warmer than normal for late February. Tonight stays mild at 48 with partly cloudy skies. Tomorrow? Even better — 75 degrees under sunshine. This is the kind of weather that makes you forget winter exists.
But drive north and you're in a different movie. Reno starts at 27, Ely at 20. You'll climb to 55 in the north, 51 in the east today.. But that's just the setup. After midnight, rain moves in. By 4 AM, showers are likely across northern and eastern Nevada.
Tuesday brings the real show. Rain spreads across the north and east, with snow levels starting above 7,000 feet. Most valleys stay wet, but mountain passes could get slushy. Winds gust 30 to 45 miles an hour in exposed spots — the kind that'll remind you why you tied down the patio furniture.
Here's the split. Southern Nevada? Dry and warm all week. Las Vegas hits 80 by Friday. Northern and eastern regions see on-and-off rain through Wednesday, then dry out Thursday. By Friday, Reno rebounds to 65.
The week ahead tells two stories. The south climbs from 72 today to 83 by Sunday — pure spring preview. The north and east start wet, then warm back up from 55 today to 65 by Friday.
If you're commuting north or east Tuesday morning, give yourself extra time. That rain hits right when you need it least.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
