It's no secret that hosts Mike and Zak are huge fans of Ari Aster, so it should come as no surprise that they both have a LOT to say about Beau is Afraid. So if you haven't seen this one yet, the boys recommend you skip... let's say like half of this episode. OR, or... maybe get your buns out to the cinema and catch this insane slice of mommy issues pie before the next Marvel tragedy comes into the theaters and boots it out of the IMAX. Anyway, Mike also gushes about the masterpiece that is John Wick 4 and Zak shares his thoughts on Madeline's Madeline, which just sounds like a stiff shot of family trauma straight to the old bread basket. Come kill an Hour with your favorite Cinephiles!

A biting satire that parodies the 1930s propaganda film by the same name, this mid 2000s musical will have you slapping your knees whether or not you're stoned. Young Jimmy Harper is lead astray down the path of the Reefer Fiend by a smooth talking crook by the name of Jack, who uses the charms of the deadly reefer to control everyone out of him. As the poor youth succumbs to his addictions his highschools sweetheart is dragged into the mix and things take a turn for the tragic. One part Dark comedy and one part horror film, and all Broadway musical!

This week Mike and Zak find another reason to talk about Marvel movies, even though we don't review a marvel movie, go figure. We start things off with a little discourse about the new Shazam 2 Fury of the Gods, and would you believe we spend a lot of time talking about the state of superhero movies these days, cause we do. Then things get lively as our hosts gush over the Mask of Zorro, Roadhouse, and the Three Amigos.

One part Phantom of the Opera and one part Faust, with Flavours of the Portrait of Dorian Gray and a star is born. A dark Comedy about betrayal, love at first sight, and revenge, told through the lens of a proper 1970 rock opera. When Mysterious songwriter turned producer, Swan, steals some sheet music from a nobody by the name of Winslow Leach, the lanky nerd takes matters into his own hands, resulting in a tragic accident that leads to Winslow’s death. Some time later, Swan’s new theater, the Paradise, is beset by the macanation of a phantom, who will kill to stop the show from happening. Swan must strike a deal with this peculiar poltergeist, or see his Paradise fail, but the deal struck is not always detailed in the contract when signed.

This is the Clearing the Q Posdcast’s 50th episode! It’s been quite a ride folks, thanks for bearing with us as we continue to navigate the vastly confusing territory that is podcasting. To celebrate we’re announcing the launch of our Patreon where you can support us if you really like what we do. Now that we got that out of the way, Mike and Zak talk about Elvis (finally) much to the chagrin of one of our hosts (it’s Mike). From there Mike gushes over Adam Driver shooting Dinosaurs in 65, then Zak Gushes over Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves’ bromance in Point Break, and to wrap things up Mike brings the room down to talk about a documentary called Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp. A Diverse collection of films eh? Where else can you get an experience like this? Nowhere, that’s where!

Star-crossed lovers Sailor Ripley and Lula Fortune travel the yellow brick road to hell across the southern United States, but there ain’t no wizard at the end of the line. Just a date with destiny, if destiny was the type that put out on the first date. One of Director David Lynch’s more accessible films, Wild At Heart is one part love story and one part road film that will keep you in suspense while giving you plenty to laugh at. A film Strongly recommended for all the Rad Grannies out there, but maybe not the best for the kids, we recommend this film to anyone who thinks David Lynch only makes “Arthouse Bullshit.”

For this week's edition of What are we Watching Mike and Zak have been putting their eyeballs on a certain member of the Ursidae family with a particular drug addition, a pair of insect inspired superheroes that have a distinctly small set of problems, a gang of anthropomorphized household appliances lead by a courageous device designed specifically for warming bread, and another mediocre flick from a director who was once hailed as “the English Tarantino.” From not so bad, so bad it's good, to just plain bad, we'll see 'em all.

You asked for it, and we’re delivering! That’s right it’s David Lynch month and we’re kicking things off with the most David Lynchiest of his movies. Joined by friend of the podcast Will Stocker, hosts Mike and Zak share their strong opinions on this very polarizing film. Factory Printer Henry Spencer experiences the joys of parenthood after a one night stand results in the birth of a premature "not baby" and life begins to change for the not so great. A classic piece of surrealist cinema, a nightmare caught on film, and one of the most uncomfortable ways to kill 90 minutes.

This was the first live action movie adapted from a video game and though it was not well received by critics and audiences of the time, it has gained a cult following that even 30 years later remains just as loyal. A meteorite crashed into Brooklyn NY 65 million years ago creating two parallel dimensions, our world, where humans evolved from apes, and a second world where humans evolved from Dinosaurs. Then the Dino world has used up all it’s resources, the evil king Koopa devises a plot to merge the two dimensions and plunder our world for its resources. The only thing standing in his way? A couple of plumbers from Brooklyn.
