Join hosts Mike and Zak as they explore the twisted tale of two strangers, trapped on a small rock of an island somewhere off the shores or New England. That's right, it's time to talk about Robert Eggers' 2019 masterpiece, The Lighthouse. When a storm forces two men, a Wicky and his new assistant, to indefinitely extend their four week tenure tending to an isolated lighthouse, tensions begin to run high as the liquor flows, and ugly truths surface, driving a wedge between the unlikely companions. But when the liquor dries up, that's when things really go to shit. A tale of isolation, madness, and the darkness of man's indifference, inspired by a medley of true events, Greek mythology, European Folklore, and the works of HP Lovecraft.

In a word; Vikings. Mike and Zak watched John McTiernan & Michael Criton's 1999 page to screen adaptation of Criton's book "Eaters of the Dead" The 13th Warrior. This movie is a shining example of how test screenings can really ruin a directors vision and cost a studio a lot of money. 12 Vikings enlist the assistance of Antonio Banderas, who's supposed to be from Baghdad, to save a kingdom in the north from a race of cannibalistic neanderthals known as the Wendol. Somewhat a parody of the Epic Poem: Beowulf, and somewhat a Frankenstein's monster of studio meddling, The 13th Warrior actually turns out to be a half decent flick, if you don't fall asleep during the first act.

Join Mike and Zak as they recount the explosive mess of gore and camp that is Japanese filmmaker Noboru Iguchi's 2008 Shlockfest: The Machine Girl. The second edition of our So BAD it's GOOD month fits the bill to the letter! If you like Japanese school girls with overlarge weapons attached to their extremities then this film is for you! Watch and be amazed by the gumption of a film that probably has no business existing, but does so all the same, perhaps in spite of anyone who said it couldn't be done, almost certainly in spite of those who said it shouldn't be done, and, perhaps most importantly, out of spite for any sort of a benevolent God type figure.

We're kicking off our "So Bad it's Good" movie month with our longest episode to date! Join hosts Mike and Zak as they talk about Peter Yates' 1983 sci-fi fantasy romp Krull. Do you like movies that aren't good, but it's hard to pin-point exactly what's not working in them? Do you like the Fantasy genre in general, but feel like it needs more confusing sci-fi elements that serve little to no purpose? Or do you just love totally impractical mall-ninja type prop weapons that you couldn't actually use in a real fight without maiming yourself? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then this movie will REALLY hit the spot.

Join us as we explore the complexities of traditional gender rolls and wax intellectual about the many types of practical magic, all while leaning how to love all over again. This film is about as personal as a story can get, and we really take our time exploring all the sub-textual subtext. it's a long one, but a good one.
