Climate Allies

A lot of us, when we think about climate change, we think of extreme weather events, melting ice, rising temperatures. But there is another huge area of our lives that climate change is impacting ……our health.

For this episode of Climate Allies, Ali is joined by Dr. Aoife Kirk, Dr. Rachel  MacCann, and Dr. Colm Byrne from Irish Doctors for the Environment (IDE) to explore the links between climate change and our health.

From air quality and active travel, to climate marches and direct action groups, we hear about how IDE are leading a climate movement within the health sector and beyond, the power of joining a group, and why the best response to climate change is to just do something.

You can follow IDE on Twitter and Facebook, as well as their website.

Business sustainability has evolved way beyond it's roots in corporate social responsibility, and now demands an entirely new approach, an approach that many businesses and industries have yet to embrace.

For this episode of Climate Allies, Ali is joined by Mike Barry, a prominent corporate sustainability leader based in the UK and former Sustainability Director of Marks and Spencer.

Covering  everything from scope 3 emissions to social sustainability,  Ali and Mike discuss what corporate sustainability should look like today, why governance is key, what it takes to be a sustainability leader, and why it's time for business to get off the fence on climate action.

No good climate podcast can start without looking at why we need to take climate action and what the science is telling us.

For the first episode of Climate Allies, Ali is joined by prominent environmental journalist and commentator John Gibbons. For over a decade, John has been writing and speaking out about climate issues. He is the founder of the climatechange.ie website. He also co-founded the healthcare publishing and communications specialists MedMedia Group.

In this frank and wide-ranging episode, Ali and John discuss why climate action needs to start with biodiversity, the myth of progress, the impact of just one degree, why we can’t leave climate communications solely up to scientists, and why there will be no climate action without climate justice.
