Host Michael Chabot talks to Sean Becketti, Vice President and Head of Portfolio Analytics at Freddie Mac, about a Research Institute For Housing America (RIHA) special report he authored on climate change and the mortgage industry. According to recent research, climate change triggered by global warming could have an impact on the behavior of portfolio lenders, GSEs, the federal government’s FHA / VA loan program and mortgage investors. This is due to extreme flooding, rising sea levels, and more storm surges that includes increased snow coverage and severe droughts. These extreme changes in elements creates more risk among industry stakeholders.
