The tables are turned! Steve Midniter of The Midniters and Killer Tone Jones interviews yours truly. Two hours of chat as Steve grills me on musical inspiration, past bands, guitars , favourite tracks and motorcycles plus a lot more. Yes I ramble a bit and I seem a bit vague but it's normally me doing the asking. Hope you enjoy it.
Vic Victor of the Koffin Kats and I have a great chat about everything! Vic is by a lake in Michigan USA during the interview and I'm in a tiny studio in the night in the UK but the conversation is a brilliant ramble through Detroit music history, Koffin Kats history working life, the great lakes, motorcycling , bass playing and much more. Great interview, enjoy. ( Apologies for the pops and clicks on the audio.)
As always, available on all the usual platforms , Spotify, iTunes, Amazon etc.
More than two hours of intense , entertaining, informative, enquiring and informal chat between King Kurt legend Smeg and myself. Everything you ever wanted hear from the man himself about everything that has ever happened is here and more. Seriously, it's a real treat, it was for me. Enjoy!
Part One of a fantastic interview with Mr Steve Whitehouse of FrenZy. Steve and I chat about his whole musical career starting with the early days in the Bristol area, his time with The Sharks, the formation of Frenzy, his time with Restless and others , record contracts, touring, recording and just about everything else including Star Wars memorabilia !
Great back story and hugely informative interview for all archivists and fans. Look out for Part Two when Steve talks about FrenZy's more recent years and his time as a member of The Blue Cats ...and the future.
Finishing Season One with a bang, Mark Carew , bassist, singer and loveable rogue and I chat about the old times, the Old Vic, the current times and peer into the future....
Seriously , we have a great informal ramble around the houses and talk about everything from Glam Rock to Teddy Boys (....and the Texans and HotKnives.). Loads of laughs, loads of stories just as you'd expect from Mark.
Season two on the way very soon, watch this space.
Great interview with the charming and talented Mr Bruno Malo, bass player extraordinaire.
Bruno and I chat about his introduction to Psychobilly and Rockabilly back in the day in his native Portugal and how he got started with playing the double bass. A man who has played with many class acts, Bruno fills us in on some details about touring, gigging and the technicalities of the instrument that's made his name.
I'm a big fan of Montreal Canada's Bloodshot Bill and if you're not already , you should be.
Part one man band part crazy band leader, Bloodshot Bill delivers some of the rockingest grass roots sounds available. With a prolific back catalogue of work to his name and many collaborations under his belt, Bill really is an original. I get the privilege of being able to interview the man himself due to the wonders of technology but apologies for the occasional lapses in sound quality. It was hot in the studio even in the wee hours and heck, he was on the other side of the Atlantic. Be sure to check him out on your preferred listening platform.
Interview with the charming and entertaining Paul Wainwright producer of the Psychobilly fanzine The Crazed. Paul and I chat about his experiences interviewing bands and luminaries from the scene, producing the popular publication and his forthcoming book, Resurrection Of The Crazed which he is in the process of writing. A fascinating fella to talk to and the book is gonna be a great read.
Brilliant interview with Alan Wilson , main man behind Western Star Records and guitarist and singer with neo-rockabilly / psychobilly ground breakers The Sharks.
Alan and I chat about Rockabilly, the history of The Sharks and how he got into recording.
We drift off into numerous other subjects as you can imagine and there's real insight into the background behind the founding of Western Star and the other tasks Alan sets himself with the remastering of classic recordings. Not to be missed
I chat with my old mate Mark Beardy Beard about , typically all sorts of stuff including the Brighton music scene of the 80's, the formation of the Midniters, Mark's introduction to the double bass and the development of his superb unique style and of course we talk about the Gold Lame outfit that gave us the legend that was Mr Sex. Great fun interview, we could have carried on for hours.
