Hebrews 12

1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience (the quality that refuses to give up!)the race that is set before us,

2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured (gk. – have fortitude, persevere, cowboy up!)the cross, despising (deem unworthy of your attention) the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3For consider him that endured such contradiction (nasty opposition)of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds (psuche).

4Ye have not yet resisted (gk.- set down troops against)unto blood, striving (gk.- antagōnizomai; antagonize, to cause a problem for with hostility)against sin (settling for less than God’s perfect will).

Hebrews 10

23Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

24And let us consider one another to provoke (gk. – offend, anger, incense, enrage)unto love and to good works:

Patience

The quality that refuses to give up; Unmovable, Established, Rooted, Grounded, Settled

Vacillate, Waver, Unstable, Insecure, Easily Unsettled, Unnerved, Confused, Bewildered, Flustered, To Draw Back

Hebrews 6

11And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

12That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit (obtain possession of) the promises.

Temperance

Self-control; Self-discipline; To rule over or dominate one’s self; Strong in the mastery of yourself

Careless, Inattentive, Easily Distracted Negligent, Slack, Apathetic, Half-hearted, Lukewarm, Self (flesh)-indulgent, Uncontrolled and Excessive

2 Timothy 1

6Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (gk. – discipline/self-control).
