Cloud experiment set to save the Great Barrier Reef - Wolkenexperiment soll das GBR retten

Australian researchers have dared to go public with a very unusual project. They want to save the endangered Great Barrier Reef with a cloud experiment. A modified turbine - which is supposed to function like a snow cannon - is to spray trillions of salt crystals into the air. When these tiny crystals, extracted from sea salt, mix with the clouds at a low height, the clouds should brighten up and reflect the sunlight away from the sea surface into space. - Australische Forscher haben sich mit einem waghalsigen Projekt an die Öffentlichkeit gewagt. Dabei soll eine modifizierte Turbine – die ähnlich wie eine Schneekanone funktionieren soll – Billionen von Salzkristallen in die Luft sprühen, Wenn sich diese winzigen, aus Meersalz gewonnenen Kristalle mit Wolken in geringer Höhe vermischen, sollen sich die Wolken aufhellen und das Sonnenlicht von der Meeresoberfläche weg ins All reflektieren.
