What happened at Pentecost in Acts 2 has not been seen in the Christian church since the first Century. However, the presence and influence of the Holy Spirit will be with the Lord's church until the end of the world. Let the modern Pentecostal go down to the docks of our shipyards and speak the gospel to sailors of all nations, by the same gift demonstrated in Acts chapter 2. We know that what modern day tongue speakers claim to have is not the same gift as Acts 2.

The Lord's parable in John chapter 10 is both simple and deep. It was so deep that the Pharisees could'nt get and it was so simple that when expounded to a little child he or she sees the truth of the gospel. It comes down to the God-given gift of spiritual discernment - to be convinced that Christ alone is the way to the Father, and therefore the way to eternal life.

God's moral law is fixed. There is good and evil and we will reap in eternity what we sow here on earth in this life.

Some people seem to get all the honour and high exposure in the N.T. Peter, Paul, John - three big names - for they were apostles.-Here is a strange example of a man who is chosen to be an apostle, but we never hear of him again.-This was Peter's initiative - you always need somebody to come up with a good idea. His plan was to replace Judas.

This message in John 8 can only be understood by those who are spiritually prepared to take communion today, in the personal knowledge of their sins forgiven through the Lord Jesus and His gospel.-We are the people who have been set free from the terrible bondage of sin.- That is what communion means - and all glory goes to the Lord, our Saviour. -The difficult thing we discover in the teaching of the Lord is who are most in bondage, slavery, don't know it.-The most damning statement by the Lord is found in v34 -Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.--The Lord used the word for bond slave. Of course, this arose out of the discussion made with the Jews who couldn't see their own bondage in sin.

Here is hope for the fallen and the gospel's answer to the claims of the law to the guilty sinner.

Aaron, the High Priest, entered into the most holy place to intercede for the people. This act teaches us representative ministry. One man for the people. The Lord Jesus is our Man in the glory interceding at the right hand of the Father for us.

In the most holy place was the ark of the covenant covered by the mercy seat.

We are to feed on Christ and drink of Him.
