Here's a mix I recorded this weekend, while in quarantine. Originally made as a private set for my friend @thehoneybearla, who asked for something "sexy, that you could jack off to", it kinda morphed into a bigger project as I found myself oddly inspired by the idea of purposefully going in a erotic-ish direction... which I don't think I've actually done before... on account of being weird about physical contact and therefore pretty much celibate. ANYWAY. I actually think this is one of my most consistent sets since "Looker", which is probably still my favorite recorded mix, as I think it captures and maintains an ominous yet sexy, synthy but silly vibe. Um so this is part one of two, only cuz I kinda got carried away and went a bit longer than IGTV can allow in one sitting (which, stupid me - I was unaware of lol), so if you want to hear the second half, I'll post it on my feed. An attempt to cut off from the pain of the world and maybe even have a little fun, results in a grueling and uncomfortable life and death battle to return towards the light... or something of the sort. An autobiography in a mix. Formerly titled "Always Been on the Outside and You've Wanted to Die."

Compiled with a story in mind, LOOKER is a three-part dystopian musical... that you can dance to. Inspired by campy 80's electro, the production of "Future St." at DTLA's The Broad, and the neo-sci-fi cult film LOOKER (starring Susan Dey), it's a mix I've (very) slowly been compiling for about three years; collecting odd tracks here and there, putting them in a folder, waiting for the right time to sort through it all. It wasn't until Kotelett and Zadak released "Solaya" that I felt I finally had all the pieces of the puzzle to tell a comprehensive story. By the time it came to assembling it, I actually had about 120 tracks in the folder, from which these 37 tracks stood out to best achieve the narrative in mind. LOOKER is a love letter to the magical kind of loneliness that comes with, specifically, city living ("Melancholy Replicant"), the pitfalls of striving for physical perfection and feeling you have to pretend your life is perfect to the outside world ("Looker"), and the subsequent losing of oneself as you succumb to the detachment that these and other modern issues bring ("Diamond Veins"). But, like most of my mixes, it has a triumphant ending that comes with being a survivor.... which, at about three hours running time, anyone who gets through the mix can call themselves. :-D
