Theme: Even when His chosen people experience hardship in exile, the LORD is fulfilling His promise to redeem them from their woes and make of them a mighty nation.

Theme: In Christ alone, God comes down to sinners who cannot go up to Him, and promises to be with them until he brings them home to Himself. 

Theme: God faithfully protects the blessing, so that it is given to the elect offspring, therefore you can marvel at His sovereign ability to secure the blessing for you. 

Theme: The covenant promises God made to Abraham remain in place despite sin and conflict, and those promises resolve in the Son of Abraham Who serves the bread and cup of salvation to the nations. 

Theme: According to His unsearchable mercy, apart from any deeds, God elected Isaac and not Ishmael, Jacob and not Esau, to inherit the salvation promised to Abraham. The Lord's salvation still comes by His unsearchable mercy.

Theme: Jesus’ inescapable path to resurrection and glory was suffering and death. We can endure our inescapable suffering and death by remembering that resurrection and glory await Christ’s people, too.
