A Study of the Parable of the Ten Virgins in Matt. 25:1-13.

In this lesson, we are reminded that BELIEVERS are on a journey to meet THE BRIDEGROOM, Jesus Christ.

Going forth to meet the bridegroom is a continuous journey that believers make DAILY.

We also study the acknowledgement by the foolish that their lamps were 'going out' meaning that they were burning at some point.

Is our lamp going out? If so, let us go and buy oil for ourselves.

In this lesson, we seek to understand what the phrase 'the bridegroom was delayed' means, taking into account the truth that Jesus Christ will NOT delay-Heb. 10:37.

Additionally, it is recorded of the virgins, wise and foolish, that they 'slumbered and slept.' Would this not suggest that all virgins (read believers) were unfaithful?

In this lesson, we seek to understand what the oil represents and why only the wise virgins had oil but the foolish did not. By comparing Scripture with Scripture, we shall see how the command to not be drunk with wine in Eph. 5:18 fits perfectly well in this parable and how only the wise virgins obeyed this command. It is either we are drunk with wine or filled with the Spirit!

After the declaration in Matt. 16:21 that He 'must go to Jerusalem,' Jesus draws near to Jerusalem.

a. What is the significance of Jesus' journey to Jerusalem as far as the building of the Church is concerned?

b. In Matt. 21-22, Jesus gives three parables. How do these parables relate within the context of building His Church?

A Study on the Parable of the Householder and His Servant in Matt. 24:45-51 and examining the scribes and the Pharisees who sat in Moses' seat-Matt. 23:1-2. Jesus Christ holds them culpable for shutting up the kingdom by not entering nor allowing those desiring to enter from doing so. How does this compare with those God has placed the Church under their care?

After declaring that He would build His Church, Jesus Christ told His disciples that He HAD to go to Jerusalem where He would be killed and resurrected.

Matt. 16:15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus turned to His disciples asking them Who they said He was and Simon Peter gave a succinct answer.

a. What does it mean that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God?

b. How did Simon Peter receive this revelation?

c. How is this revelation significant in the context of Christ building His Church?

Matt. 16:13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” 14 So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

In response to Jesus' question, His disciples gave varying descriptions coming from the 'men' in view.

a. Who are these 'men'?

b. Why did the 'men' give the varying descriptions of Jesus Christ?

A Study on the Parable of the Householder and his Servant in Matt. 24:45-51 looking at the example of the twelve spies Moses sent to spy the land in Num. 13 as well as the Pharisees, Scribes and Chief Priests during Christ's first advent. Were they faithful or unfaithful servants?
