The United States is increasing aircraft numbers in the Middle East as tensions soar with Iran.
The US plans to send additional F-16 and F-35 fighter jets from bases in Europe, as well as additional aerial refueling tankers, according to a US official.
Dozens of US fuelers have arrived in Israel in recent days and are still incoming, an Israeli source said. During the March operation, there were roughly 94 fuelers. That had dropped to 40, but has been rising since last week, this source said.
CNN’s Kevin Liptak has details about the surge in military aircraft. Also, CNN military analyst Cedric Leighton and former Obama aide Dennis Ross examine the potential impact of the move as tensions with Iran continue to rise.
