Launched in the lead up to the 50th Union World Conference on Lung Health in October 2019, this #endTBdialogues series underpins the URGENCY to step up the fight against the epidemic. #EndTBdialogues feature conversations with those who have spent years in fighting the world's top infectious killer disease. Business as usual will fail us in meeting the #endTB target by 2030. New/fresh thinking is vital to reimagine every critical cog-in-the-wheel to end TB, as well as accelerate progress towards other SDGs. Urvashi Prasad reflects on importance of trying to see how to converge different sectors for enhanced development outcomes. She shares her insights on the fight to end TB in India by 2025, Poshan Abhiyaan (campaign on nutrition and food security) which is trying to bring different ministries together whether it is health, gender or sanitation as everything impacts outcome in nutrition, etc. Nutrition as we know is closely linked to TB both as a reason why people get TB as they are undernourished but also because they are not able to cope with treatment if they are undernourished. Urvashi calls for reorienting health system from hospital and clinic to keeping people healthy and out of hospital. "We cannot pride ourselves only in treating so many people but also in keeping so many people healthy" says she. She also rightly says that money is not the biggest instrument we have to use now but it is the knowledge know-how and best practices. She was in conversation with CNS Managing Editor Shobha Shukla.
