  • 90/10: More Than Passion

In this episode of The Coach Daddd Podcast, Coach Daddd and Momma Rushhh welcome a special guest — their daughter Mia. Raised with the same discipline and faith principles as her athletic siblings, Mia’s path looks different. She’s an artist, cinephile, and YouTuber, hosting Movies with Mia, where she reacts to classic Hollywood films.

Together, the Rushings unpack why passion alone isn’t enough — in sports, art, marriage, or faith. They explore how discipline, humility, and patience shape who you become while you’re waiting on God’s timing. From the “curse of knowledge” during homework to learning from failure, this conversation bridges the locker room and the creative studio — reminding us that the process doesn’t produce the promise; it produces the person strong enough to carry it.

    Key themes:

    • When God is with you, the math doesn’t matter

    • Why early success can be a setup without discipline

    • How to sustain passion with humility and hard work

    • The power of failure, faith, and “failing toward” growth

    • Family lessons that apply from the field to the film set

Whether you’re a parent, athlete, or creative chasing your calling — this one’s for you.

Dedication fuels you. Discipline shapes you. Development carries you.

  • 90/10: Built for the Storm

    Built for the Storm
When you chase someone else’s lane, you forfeit your own. In this episode, Coach Daddd and Momma Rushhh unpack the marks of real purpose: shouldering hardship without it feeling like drudgery, enduring process without folding, staying steady in crisis, refusing to shrink under pressure—and walking into the storm like the buffalo. We redefine “Stay Dangerous” as meekness—power under control—through Jesus’ restraint with Peter (Matthew 26:51–54) and the promise that the meek inherit the earth (Matthew 5:5). We also reset self-talk with David’s example of encouraging himself in the Lord (1 Samuel 30:6).

    You’ll hear:

    • How to spot when you’ve started running someone else’s race—and how to get back in your lane

    • Practical “storm drills” for athletes and families (breath + prayer + next right step)

    • Short, biblical self-talk lines for pressure moments (“I’m built for this. Not yet ≠ not ever.”)

Share this with a teammate, parent, or coach who’s in a tough stretch.

  • 90/10: Developing Growth Mindsets in Ourselves and Our Children

What does it really mean to have a growth mindset?

In this episode, Coach Daddd and Momma Rushhh unpack the process of becoming—not just as parents or athletes, but as people. They explore how the energy we bring impacts our homes, how to recognize change in ourselves and others, and why creating a safe space for truth is essential for real development.

You’ll hear insights on mentorship, communication, and the courage it takes to let growth feel uncomfortable. It’s not about chasing perfection—it’s about staying faithful to the process.

Listen in to learn how to:

    • Recognize the energy you bring into your family and team

    • See your children as they’re becoming, not just as they were

    • Build safety and truth in your home

    • Encourage growth through preparation, not pressure

  • Facing the Storm: Courage, Fear and the "Buffalo" Mindset

What does it really mean to have courage? In this episode of the Coach Daddd Podcast, we dive into the mental side of sports—the part of the game that often makes the difference between good athletes and great ones.

Courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s choosing to move forward even when fear is screaming at you to stop. As Coach Daddd explains, courage means not letting fear have you. It’s about pressing forward through the hard moments—sometimes even through tears—because running away never saves you.

This lesson came alive in Coach Daddd’s own life through his mother’s story. From her journey to become a nurse to her simple but powerful wisdom—“press forward while crying”—he learned that true strength is forged in the middle of struggle, not in the absence of it.

We also unpack the powerful “buffalo and cow” metaphor. Cows run from storms, prolonging their suffering as the storm chases them down. Buffalo, on the other hand, charge into the storm, facing it head-on, and because of that, they move through it faster. This natural example reveals a life principle: the faster you face what scares you, the quicker you grow beyond it.

    In this conversation, you’ll hear:

    • Why fear is inevitable but doesn’t have to be controlling

    • How athletes can build courage in everyday decisions

    • What running from problems does to your mindset—and your opportunities

    • Why the buffalo’s approach to storms is the perfect metaphor for sports, parenting, and life

    • A real-life example of courage and persistence from Coach Daddd’s own family

Whether you’re an athlete pushing through training, a parent guiding your kids through challenges, or simply someone trying to face life’s storms with strength, this episode will give you practical ways to reframe fear, find courage, and build mental toughness that lasts.

We’d love to hear your thoughts—what storms are you facing right now, and how are you choosing to meet them? Share your takeaways in the comments.
