Are you running the race to finish it, or are you going to get disqualified right at the end?
In today's episode of Word Time, Coach Shaw dives deep into 2 Kings chapter 9 and 10 to break down the tragic story of King Jehu. On paper, Jehu looks like a true patriot and a total hero of the faith. He was anointed by Elisha to carry out God’s direct judgment on the wicked dynasty of Ahab and Jezebel, and he absolutely handled business. He wiped out Baal worship, eliminated the false prophets, and even turned the temple of Baal into a public toilet.
But verse 31 drops a terrifying warning: “But Jehu did not obey the law of the Lord, the God of Israel, with all his heart.”
We look at how Jehu’s partial obedience directly connects to the modern-day American church, the deception of the "once saved, always saved" doctrine, and the reality of what it means to guard your inheritance so you don't hear those dread words from Jesus: "Depart from me, I never knew you."

Key Takeaways From This Message:
The 95% Trap: Jehu did exactly what God asked him to do when it came to destroying Ahab's house and tearing down Baal. He went all in on 95% of the mandate. But he left the 5%—the golden calves of Jeroboam—untouched. We cannot claim to walk with God while keeping our favorite little cultural idols intact.
The Illusion of Patriotism: Right now, there is a massive alignment between American patriots and the Christian faith. But when the end-times pressure cooker forces a choice between country and Christ, many who love America more than they love the Word will fold. The path is narrow for a reason.
Salvation is an Inheritance, Not a Possession Yet: The Bible consistently notes that our salvation is an inheritance reserved in heaven, untouched by rust or moths. Just like a college scholarship or a family will, you can break the rules, walk away, and forfeit what was waiting for you.
Don't Be the Best Person in Hell: Jehu accomplished monumental things for the Kingdom, yet failed to give God his whole heart. You can be opposite to the world, hated by society, and incredibly productive in ministry, but if you don't finish the race in full obedience, it means nothing.
