Quote of the Week:
'A frame is the foundation from which everything evolves.' - Bob Burg
Hi all!
This is Episode 99 (S2:E45)!
We begin the 5th book of the bible, known as Deuteronomy (Devarim) and our topic this week is:
'On Framing & Reframing'
* How often have you stared at a problem for an endless amount of time only to realize that you cannot find a solution?
It has happened to all of us!
The reason is often connected to the frameworks which we set in our minds and the frames through which we experience and understand the world around us and our own lives.
Well, when we are stuck, what should we do to get 'unstuck'?
--> Reframe!
I share a lot of time with leaders reframing constructs, problems, issues, and mindsets. That time together is vital and can sometimes being extremely difficult to work through to the other side.
When we can get to the core of the issue and then apply a different context, vantage point, and/or perspective we usually find our way.
Let's discuss...
Happy Listening and Learning!
Hi all!
This is Episode 98 (S2:E44)
With this week's episode, we complete the Book of Numbers, the 4th of 5 Books of Moses for the 2nd time! Woot Woot!!!
What a ride it's been! Thanks as always for being along the journey with me each and every week.
This week's topic: The Journey
The Bible lists so many places (more than 40!) where the People of Israel traveled over the 40 years in the desert.
Why list them and why so many places?
What is the Bible trying to teach us and how does this help us navigate and improve our day-to-day?
Well, let's learn about life's journey and Oh, All The Places You'll Go!
Happy Learning!

'Man’s real home is not a house, but the road and that life itself is a journey to be walked on foot.'
– Bruce Chatwin
Hi all!

Happy learning to all!
Quote of the week:

Hi all!
Episode 96 (S2:E42) is here.
Our topic this week is 'Overthinking'.
We all do it, some more than others.
The question is:
1. What exactly is it?
2. Why do we do it?
3. How can we work our way to the other side?
Let's take a lesson from Pinchas and see where it leads...
Happy Listening and learning!
Quote of the Week:
'If overthinking situations burned calories, I’d be dead.'
Hi all!
Episode 94 (S2:E40) is here!
Our topic this week: On Problem Solving
This week, the Bible speaks about a few challenging situations that the People of Israel face as they are about to enter the Land. Some of these are familiar to us, as similar ones have happened before, and some are new. In each case, there seem to be a few possible solutions, again some we've seen before, and it's interesting to see which ones God and Moses actually use.
What is the process that they are using to solve problems?
What is the process that you use to solve problems?
We'll talk this week about 2 approaches that are popular in the business world: The Ohno Technique and The Kipling Method.
Super interesting!
Happy Listening!
Quote of the Week:
“We can not solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them”
Hi all!
I hope you're having a great week!
This is Episode 93 (S2:E39).
The reading this week is Korach and our topic is: Persuasion
We will run the actions of Korach through a test of the 7 Universal Principles of Persuasion to see how many (all?) he uses to try to influence the people and then seize power from Moses and Aaron.
Appreciating how persuasion works will help us toward developing greater skills (ie it is learnable) and ultimately greater success and impact.
Happy Learning!
Quote of the Week:
"Persuasion skills exert a far greater influence over others’ behaviors than formal power structure do.” – Robert Cialdini
Hi all!
Episode 92 On Trust
Ask yourself the following question: What, at its core, was the impact of the sin of the spies?
You might say: not going into the land
You might say: 40 years in the desert
You might say: disappointing God and Moses
I'd argue that in actuality, those are all results/consequences/punishments, but not the core impact.
This week's episode goes to the core: a breach of the trust-based relationship between God and the people of Israel.
We will discuss the benefits of having and building trust, a path to repair breached trust relationships, and my time in defensive driving school!
It's always fun and interesting here at Coaching With The Bible!
Enjoy, and as always, Happy Learning!
Hi all!
This is Episode 91 (S2:E91)
Our Focus this week: On Better Judgement
(Yes, I used the UK English spelling of the word judgement vs the US English judgment! Don't judge me!)
Think for a moment about a time when you made a bad judgment call. We've all done it. Hopefully, in your case, it was not painful or too consequential!
What was that moment like?
What was the situation like?
What were the consequences of that?
Why did you make that decision?
We've all done it.
So now, let's think about the future and how we might make better judgment calls.
What could we do differently?
What would it require for us to be more 'intuitive' in making better decisions the next time?
How would we know if we've done a better job the next time?
All of this is what we are discussing in this week's episode of Coaching with the Bible.
Our focus this week is better judgment and the storyline that we're going to focus on is the moment when Joshua attempts to defend the honor of Moses just after the moment when Eldad and Meidad are prophesying in the camp.
Happy Learning and Enjoy!
Quote of the Week:
'Good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgement.' - Will Rogers
Hi all!
This is episode 90! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G that we have reached this moment. Admittedly, it's a bit hard to believe, though I'm guessing episode 100, will be harder to believe!
Thank you everyone for listening each week. I appreciate it and I appreciate you.
This week is a special episode (S2:E36) because we are celebrating my birthday (today) and our topic this week is: BIRTHDAYS!
What is the connection between the Nazir and your/my birthday?
If you guessed holding back from wine, you'd be wrong! Not doing that!
So, let's think through what if any connection we can find between those two seemingly unrelated things...
Can't figure it out? Well, take a listen and, as always...
Happy Learning!
