  • About songwriting - lyrics and topline

I like to encourage music performance clients and students to write their own songs – beginning with extracts. For example, either

just lyrics or the topline parts of a song that refer to the client’s personal or professional development goals.
For those who only write lyrics or topline, then it’s a good idea to begin with a backing tracking.

  • Song Sense_Unforgiven

Further to listening to SevenDust’s track, Unforgiven I was inspired to write a poem about the same theme.

I have struggled to understand why so many people are unforgiving. Hence why, I sense that effective communication and coping skills should be on the school curriculum.

  • What is Coaching via Songs? FAQs

    What is Coaching via Songs?

Coaching via Songs is very similar to traditional coaching but with music, songs and lyrics included.

Why did you decide to design Coaching via Songs?

I designed Coaching via Songs because alongside counselling, traditional coaching, consulting, development, stress management and performance training… singing, songs, music and lyrics can also assist us with:

    wellbeing
    learning
    motivation
    healing
    safeguarding
    health and safety
    inspiration
    education
    social skills
    family
    friendship
    relationship
    increasing revenue and
    unlocking our creativity

To add to that… when we include our five senses we achieve even more!

Who is this programme suitable for?

This programme is primarily suitable for children, young persons and adults (including those with Special Educational Needs). It can also be included with early years (and their Parents, Guardians and Carers) if nursery rhymes are included.

Aspects of Coaching via Songs is also included with other 1-to-1 and group work that I provide. For example:

    -Music Tuition
    -Music Story Rhymes
    -Music Performance Coaching
for amateur to professionals including vocalists and instrumentalists
    -Artist Development Coaching
-Behaviour and Learning Support Assistance via Music, Songs, Lyrics and Activities,  and
    -Special Educational Needs (SEN)

What is the approach of Coaching via Songs?

Coaching via Songs can either be bespoke, for clients who prefer a more person-centred approach.

Conversely, as a sixteen module course, where each module covers one major theme.

The approach of this course is holistic and suitable for those who would like to improve their coaching skills.

For example, we encourage all attendees to commit to comprehensive self-care and kindness to family, friends, the environment and local and international community.

The contents of each module include:

    -notes

    -audio or video clips

-music, songs and lyric recommendations, and

-the titles and links of various books, programmes, articles and theory

  • ‘Songs make you feel a thought’

    I’m going to begin with a quote…

“Words make you think. Music makes you feel. A song makes you feel a thought.”

    — E.Y. Harburg

The wonderful song lyricist and librettist, E. Y. Harburg, also known as ‘Yip’ Harburg wrote that… and together with Harold Arlen wrote the songs for the musical, ‘Wizard of Oz’.

If the past few days for you have been about trying to achieve more, then you are not alone.

Personally, I rely on a check list of all the pending chores and tasks [with deadlines], that I need to complete.

My aim here is not solely about prioritising, but also about achieving some kind of balance.

So, for me there’s some cleaning, risk assessments and exercise. By that I mean walking, aerobics or dancing. Alongside that, there’s music, creative, intellectual and spiritual development, and once a month I also have a day off.

So yes, I admit – I am on a self-care journey at present.

Research suggests that when we look after ourselves more we are less likely to hurt others... and in turn happier to give back.

  • The aim of Coaching via Songs

The aim of Coaching via Songs is to improve performance.

It's suitable for all the family and the content is ‘mainly’ bespoke and also about music, lyrics and songs and development.

We begin by providing support with:

    - protecting self from bullying, neglect, abuse, discrimination and harassment

    - links to great Health and Safety and First Aid training

    - Communication
For example, alongside getting enough sleep and a good diet, developing effective stress management skills assist us with enabling non-violence and an ability to cope with jealousy

The reason we’ve included jealousy is because it’s apparently the number 1 reason for violent conflict and crime between men and women.

    Thanks  for listening !

  • Coaching via Songs

    Coaching via Songs…

is a programme that supports development via songs, lyrics, music, rhymes, verse, stories, activities and also our five senses.

Coaching via Songs is both bespoke or can include talent and artist development with music performance training for the music industry.

If you are a teacher, tutor or coach who would like more support with development and performance for your students and clients then Coaching via Songs is ideal.

The same is true, if you’re a business owner or a parent and your child struggles with focus or behaviour at school.

If you are a trainer, practitioner or facilitator Coaching via Songs  might support your methodology and also the approach you use as it will help you solve problems and challenges that prevent you from achieving your goals.
