A commentator once remarked that "Jonah was a poor excuse for a prophet" It is this poor excuse of a servant of God that we will be studying this summer. While Jonah is by no means impressive or especially gifted he had one thing going for him: he was a recipient and therefore instrument of God's grace. Jonah's story begins with rebellion and will conclude with defiance. This, however, does not leave him untouched by God's grace.

Marty Edwards is the international president of Black Sheep Ministry (www.blacksheephdfc.org). He was a pastor in a local church setting. He is now a pastor in a motorcycle club setting. In this message he shares his heart for the lost and how God steered him to bring the gospel outside of the walls of the church building.

The third part in our Engage series highlights the guiding values of Coast Community Church. In the faithful pursuit of God's vision for our congregation we have discerned five foundations that we must build on.

The second part of our Engage series unpacks the vision of Coast Community Church. God has called our congregation for a specific task, we have a specific purpose. Pastor James unpacks that calling in three words: loving, living, and leading.

"It is not the church of God that has a mission, but the God of mission that has a church." We are beginning a series on the mission and vision of Coast Community Church. Our series begins by identifying how our church fits into the larger purposes of God in creation.

Interpretations of the book of Revelation has led to many confusing and, at times, disturbing ideas regarding the end of time. But the vision of God's redemtive plans for his creation laid out in this final book should stir our imaginations. God's promise of newness should not lead us to just hope for a distant future but participate in a possible present.

Jesus' life and teachings were centrally focused on God's kingdom breaking into our world today. This new kingdom isn't identified by geogrpahical boundraies or a specific type of political structure. The mark of the Kingdom of God is a Spirit shaped community. It's within this Spirit led community that the fullness of the church can be experienced and expressed. This week we focus on issues of discipleship and what that might look like in the Kingdom of God.

The apostle Paul was a tremendous leader in the early church. Many of the letters he wrote to various churches make up a significant portion of the New Testament. His words, then, continue to shape and mold the church today. One of Paul's primary teachings had to do with church unity. We explore church unity this week to discvoer its implications for us today.

Jesus is resurrected. This miraculous event has completely changed the trajectory of history. The disciples, though, are unaware of how this mission of God in Jesus will move forward. They obediently follow Jesus's command to wait for the Holy Spirit to come upon them. Once the Holy Spirit does come things completely change for the disciples.

Jesus foretold his death and resurrection. The claim must have been unimaginable to his disciples. Whether it be the teachings, claims, or events of Jesus' life placing faith in him must have been and continues to be difficult for many. Jesus meets us at those obstacles to help us overcome them. Come hear how Jesus meets people in their disappoints, desparis, and doubts.
