Call the office of your Senator or Representatives. You don’t have to be an expert! When leaving a message, or speaking to their Staffers, simply say:

“Hi, my name is X and I live in X (if relevant, share that you are a constituent). It is widely accepted that the personal care and cosmetics industry is currently under regulated. As a result, harmful and questionable ingredients are still allowed to be used in beauty products. This harms consumers, who deserve to know what is in the products they use, and to have safer personal products that are free of toxic chemicals. This is why we need Congress to pass bills that ban the use of harmful chemicals in the products that my family and I use every day. I urge you (if you’re speaking directly to the elected representative, if not, then say: “your boss”) to co-sponsor the Safer Beauty Bill Package. This package calls for the disclosure of fragrance and flavor ingredients, a ban on 11 toxic ingredients, and more. Thank you for hearing my concerns.”

When two moms had a chance meeting on Capitol Hill in April 2022, they found themselves lobbying for the same cause, one that had hit home for both of them and was dear to both of their hearts. Even though they lived thousands of miles away from each other, they continued their advocacy efforts to help improve the safety of personal care products in the United States. Through this work, they found that they’re both “bad moms” doing good deeds and turning unpopular opinions into modern day values.Together, they continue to make waves, change lives and improve the health of others. In this episode, you’ll meet Aimee, a cool coastal mom from California and Andee, a corporate WFH mama from the Midwest.
