1. God CREATED them, sin DISTRACTED them.
2. Appetites are never FULLY and COMPLETELY satisfied.
3. Your appetite will always whisper NOW not LATER.
Genesis 25:27-28 The boys grew up, and Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of
the open country, while Jacob was a quiet man, staying among the tents. Isaac, who
had a taste for wild game, loved Esau, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
Genesis 25:29-31 Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from
the open country, famished. He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red
stew! I’m famished!” Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.”
Genesis 25:32-35 “Look, I am about to die,” Esau said. “What good is the
birthright to me?” But Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” So he swore an oath to him,
selling his birthright to Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil
stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright.
Lies We Believe
1. The ACCOMPLISHMENT lie.
Colossians 3:1-2 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on
things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on
things above, not on earthly things
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is
right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is
excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
2. That will never HAPPEN to ME lie.
3. It’s not that BIG OF A DEAL lie.
James 1:13-15 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God
cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted
when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire
has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to
death.
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen
his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace
and truth.
