# Favorable Boating Conditions Expected Along East Central Florida Coast
The National Weather Service in Melbourne is forecasting favorable conditions for boaters along the East Central Florida coast from Flagler Beach to Jupiter Inlet through next week, with high pressure dominating the Atlantic waters and keeping sea conditions manageable for recreational activities.
According to the coastal waters forecast issued Saturday evening, seas will remain modest throughout the forecast period, generally ranging from one to three feet depending on location and distance from shore. Closer to shore in the zero to twenty nautical mile zone, seas will typically stay between one and two feet, while farther offshore in the twenty to sixty nautical mile range, conditions will be slightly rougher at two to three feet.
Winds are expected to remain light to moderate, generally southwest to south winds between five and fifteen knots, with occasional afternoon and evening enhancement from sea breezes. The forecast indicates slight daily wind increases, particularly during afternoon hours when sea breezes develop.
The Gulf Stream maintains its typical position for this time of year, with the west wall located approximately forty-one nautical miles east of Ponce Inlet, gradually moving closer to shore toward the south.
However, boaters should remain alert for scattered showers and lightning storms throughout the forecast period. These storms are expected primarily during afternoon and evening hours, with the possibility of offshore-moving thunderstorms, especially early next week. Monday and Tuesday appear to have the highest probability of shower and thunderstorm activity, with afternoon and evening occurrence most likely.
The intracoastal waters will experience varying conditions from mostly smooth to moderate chop, depending on the specific day and location. Waters will remain smoothest during calm morning hours and generally develop light to moderate chop as afternoon winds increase.
The National Weather Service advises boaters to monitor conditions closely, particularly when venturing offshore, as thunderstorms can bring sudden changes in wind speed and wave height. Despite the scattered storm threat, the overall pattern through Thursday remains quite favorable for boating activities, with generally calm seas and cooperative wind conditions expected across most days.
