Why does the Bible command us to give thanks? To sing with gratitude in our hearts? Don't the authors of scripture understand that the world is difficult and often disappointing? Why then are we commanded to give thanks and express gratitude? Come join us as we learn how gratitude is important; to our faith; our connection to one another; and our witness in the world.   

We kick off our new series, Give Thanks, by seeing that gratitude does not come from our own perspective of life and circumstances, but is the result of the spirit filled life.

Ephesians 5:15-20

We have a recurring problem with our practice of prayer. We believe we should pray. And we believe we should receive prayer. But we don't trust in the power of prayer enough. We struggle to trust that prayer is powerful and makes a difference. When our prayers are answered, it often feels like coincidence. Yet, Daniel 10 gives us a fascinating picture of what is really happening behind the curtain of this world, when you and I pray. Come join us as we learn to trust in the power of prayer. 

In Daniel 7, we see a vision of monstrous kingdoms rising from the sea, only to be silenced by the Ancient of Days and the Son of Man. This message reminds us that even when the world grows darker and more beastly, God’s throne remains unshaken and Christ’s kingdom will never end.

Daniel’s integrity and faithfulness transformed a corrupt system and protected a king from loss—not through politics or power, but through the quiet strength of a Spirit-shaped life. His unshakable devotion revealed that a relationship with God is not transactional but transformational, pointing forward to the ultimate rescue found in Christ.

Belshazzar’s feast in Daniel 5 ended in judgment, but Christ invites us to a different table—the Lord’s Table—where bread and cup bring forgiveness, mercy, and hope through the Spirit.

In Daniel 4 we see the incredible reach of God to change a heart that is fickle and uninterested in others. We see a king move from insane selfishness and arrogance, to humble worship of God. If our God can do this, there is no one out of his incredible reach and power to change a heart. What does this encouraging truth mean for us? Come join us this Sunday as we catch a fresh vision of the incredible reach of our God.

When violence and dread shake us, we learn from Daniel to stay calm, seek community, and cry out to God in prayer. The stone that topples empires is Christ himself—our hope and our help in troubled times.
