The Town of Leland turned thirty this month. The current population, according to estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, is about twenty-two-thousand people. That’s growth of about 61% over the last nine years.

One carbon, one oxygen. Carbon monoxide is sometimes called "the silent killer" because the gas is odorless, colorless, and fatal to humans at high levels. But scientists are beginning to discover that used in moderation, there could be health benefits.

Carolina Beach is the largest of the three beach towns in New Hanover County. At a population of about 6,300, it’s around three times the size of the county’s next largest, Wrightsville Beach and 95% white, according to the U.S. Census. Median household income is $62,000 a year – higher than nearby Wilmington.
