Coastway Church

When you hear the phrase “best kept secret” what comes to mind? Maybe something you’d like to know, but don’t yet know. Possibly something that only you or a few others know, and are glad you already know. In Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18, Jesus invites us to consider how the best kept secrets are the righteous things we do for God that are often only known by God.

In Matthew 5:27-37, Jesus deals with three big questions we have: 1) How can we be restored from sexual sin? 2) How should we think and go about divorce?

3) How can we lead lives of integrity? When we trade the truth for a lie it ruins us, but when we turn to Jesus, He restores us.

 In week 1 of “The Mount” based on The Sermon on the Mount from Matthew 5-7, we start with Matthew 5:1-12. In these opening verses of Jesus’ influential sermon, he deals with the question: “What is the good life?” Is it health, wealth, being liked, having lots of discretionary time? Or, is it something else? Jesus’ answer may surprise you. The good life comes through a right relationship to God and right responses to grace.
