Cocoa☆Disaster

Today, we take a dive into all of the stuff we didn't get the chance to cover in our proper Anime Awards show! We look at some favorite anime lists from our fans and community polls, we gaze into the sales numbers for this year in Japan, and we talk about what series we'd think about taking with us into the future. It's a little more uncut, a little more casual, but just as fun here with Cocoa☆Disaster!

Today, it's time for Cocoa☆Disaster to do their annual analysis of the previous year in anime! We have lots of categories to consider and lots of shows to cover, and we barely scraped in under our time limit for the show! What were some of our favorite shows from the year, and which ones failed to live up to potential? Which ones had the most evocative openings, and which shows were just plain bad? Will Chorps and Jordan have any common opinions this year? It's all this and more for our 2016 awards show!

Since we ran out of time on this episode, we will have a bonus episode up next week where we talk about the lists we received from our fans, as well as some general discussion about 2016.

Today on Cocoa☆Disaster, we're all snowed in, so we decided to warm up with some friendly conversation about the upcoming winter season of anime! It looks a little sparse, but there are a few shows that look really good, along with a few we're looking into. What're our hot picks for this cold season? What's not even registering on our radar? How much Yu-Gi-Oh! can Chorps shove into the podcast? How lukewarm can Chorps and Jordan be on picking genre favorites? All this and more!

It's time for our inaugural series review show, the Cocoa☆Disaster Single Serving! Today, Chorps and Jordan, along with special guest Jay, look back on the 2003 video-game-turned-anime Gungrave and how it expands/rewrites the barebones presentation of the game into something a lot more emotional and human. Does the recontextualization of this game end up working out, or does the execution fall flat? Are the guns and graves still intact? Who did we bet on in the kiwi races? All this and more on a special episode of Cocoa☆Disaster!

Today on Cocoa☆Disaster, the cold winds are starting to blow in, the leaves are changing color, and anime soldiers on into the unknown! Jordan and Chorps have done their work perusing the fall selection and have come out with some disappointments, but have also found some very good series as well! What shows have surprised us or hit our lofty expectations? Which popular series failed to charm us? Does Cocoa☆Disaster ever show true fear? Plus, we talk anime at the Oscars and the Sisyphean struggle of Hayao Miyazaki!

Today on Cocoa☆Disaster, friend of the show qb (@queuebae on Twitter) has put a class together about dark themes in magical girls, and whether or not Madoka was nearly as influential as people think! We're spanning all the way back to the 70's and then all the way up to the current season, so strap in for a bit of a history lesson and overview of the genre!

Today on Cocoa☆Disaster, the weather is changing but we pull out our lawn chairs and swim trunks for one last summer memory! Both of us watched our fair share of summer anime, and now it's time to discuss the good, the bad, and whatever else came to mind from our shows. Which new anime hero spoke to us on a personal level? What controversial opinion does Jordan hold? Plus, we talk about the Netflix approach to anime releases, try to hype up a Kickstarter, and we cast a JoJo's movie adaptation! Where's the check, Hollywood??

Agree or disagree with any of our opinions or thoughts on these shows? Anything you think we missed out on, good or bad, that we should still look at? Let us know in the comments!
