Owen is joined by Andrew Sanderson from AKS Residential & Amelia Horne from Once Upon a Fork, as they have lunch and discuss how children & parenthood can change your approach to work & running a business.
In this episode Andrew and Amelia indulge Owen's curiosity and share some first hand insights in to how their approach to business has evolved alongside having children & the reality of how having kids has really helped them focus on what is truly important to them.
We've kept the editing very light on this one to make sure you feel like you're right along side the trio as they share a fabulous lunch at The Cow.
We'd love to hear your comments on this topic, as well as any feedback or suggestions for future topics. Please feel free to get in touch via [email protected].
In this short episode, Owen chats with Olivia Pitt (https://www.linkedin.com/in/olivia-pitt-73537950/) and Jack, one of the volunteers, from TwentyTwenty (https://www.twentytwenty.org.uk/) about the various Skills Gaps that exist in industries and some things organisations can do to tackle that.
It was a great opportunity for Owen to get to know more about TwentyTwenty and the work they do in Derby & Leicester to help young people.
It's an interesting discussion with some insight in to how employers can engage with young people they may not have done previously in order to address the risks of Skills Gaps in their industries.
The insights from Olivia & Jack working in TwentyTwenty and helping young people that have found themselves separated from mainstream education are really inspiring & thought provoking. It's always interesting to get perspective from outside your normal sphere & it's powerful to learn that organisations may be pushing people with the right attitude & aptitude away simply because of the language they use about "must have" qualifications.
Have a listen and let us know your thoughts by getting in touch at [email protected]. We can put your thoughts and questions to Olivia & Jack in a future podcast, maybe you could even join us? :)
TwentyTwenty are always looking for businesses keen to reach out and help in a variety of ways, from helping young people learn how to write an appropriate CV, doing mock interviews and right through to work experience placements. If you're interested in learning more, get in touch with us and we can pass your details on :)
