For the conclusion of our Americana series, we dove into the fever dream that is David Byrne's, True Stories. We explore the world set up for us by the idiosyncratic artist, an America on steroids. There's a discussion on John Goodman's attire, a sidebar conversation on a deadly John Wayne production and much more! We summarize the connections between the three films and connect the dots on what was happening in the 80s that reflected in these films.

Continuing our Americana series, we cover the 1979 film, Real Life. We discuss how Albert Brooks potentially predicted reality television and its implications along with a mind blowing interpretation of the movie by special guest, Kiley Black. Enjoy!

Americana movies deal with small-towns which reflect a characteristic or typical American way of life. While America has changed much since the days of It's a Wonderful Life so have the films that represent it. We kicked off our Americana series with a helluva picture from Robert Zemeckis. Before Forrest Gump, Zemeckis gave the world possibly the most cynical comedy led by national treasure, Kurt Russell before his action career.

Hello there! This week we explore Ravenous by Antonia Bird, a director who deserved more credit than they were given. We dive into this Western horror-comedy and discuss some incredible one liners along, what we liked and didn't like about the comedic tone, the films implications of Manifest Destiny and so much more.

In our first episode we explore the not so discussed 90s sequel to the popular 1974 classic, Chinatown. There's a film review, behind-the-scenes discussion such as someone getting plastic surgery for a role, some reviews from people that didn't get quite get the movie and more!
