In Part 1, we uncovered the root causes of codependency—how trauma, fear, rejection, and unhealthy family dynamics can lead us to depend on people and relationships for our sense of worth.
In this second episode, we go deeper. Codependency isn’t just about people—it’s about what we put at the center of our lives. Even good things like work, ministry, children, and grandchildren can become idols if we look to them for identity, security, or comfort. And for many, substances like food, alcohol, drugs, or even exercise can quietly become “little gods” that we run to before running to the Lord.
Through biblical examples like Samson and Delilah, Eli and his sons, the Rich Young Ruler, and the Israelites in the wilderness, we’ll explore what happens when we elevate blessings above the Giver. I’ll also share real-life reflections of how this has shown up in my own journey, so we can walk this out together in honesty and hope.
But here’s the good news: God doesn’t reveal our idols to condemn us—He does it to set us free. In this episode, you’ll discover how to identify misplaced dependencies, release control, and realign your heart so that Jesus is at the center of it all.
What You’ll Learn in This Episode:
Reflection Questions:
Scripture References:
Closing Prayer:
I’ll lead you in a prayer of surrender, asking God to take His rightful place in our hearts and free us from anything that has tried to replace Him.
✨ Don’t miss this powerful continuation of our journey into healing from codependency. Share this episode with a friend who needs encouragement, and remember: freedom starts when God is at the center.
