1
O blessed Sun, whose splendour
Dispels the shades of night;
O Jesus, my defender,
My soul’s supreme delight;
Although Thou shouldst deprive me
Of all I love the best,
If Thou Thy love still give me,
I freely yield the rest.
2
I know no life divided,
O Lord of life, from Thee;
In Thee is life provided
Abundantly for me.
I know no death, O Saviour,
Because I live in Thee;
Thy death it is that ever
From sin doth set me free.
3
I fear no tribulation,
However great it be;
O fount of my salvation,
No cross can part from Thee.
If I have Thee, Thee only,
All else to me is naught;
I have, though poor and lonely,
More wealth than kings have sought.
4
If while on earth I wander
My heart is glad and blest,
Ah, what shall I be yonder
In perfect peace and rest!
O blessed thought in dying:
We go to meet the Lord,
Where there shall be no sighing,
A kingdom our reward.
