Dan Gerdeman is a teacher at Hilliard Davidson - a school that both Carter and Hamza attended. Hamza had Mr. Gerdeman for Media Arts and despite only having one class with him, he still considers Gerdeman one of his favorite teachers during his four years of high school. Gerdeman joins the podcast to talk about how teaching was for him during the pandemic and his love for filmmaking. If you go to Davidson and you are taking his class, you are in for a treat!
Mitch Montgomery has returned to the podcast to talk about what has happened since the last time he was on. As of this current episode, the first time Mitch came on the podcast, his episode is the most popular of the podcast. Mitch has moved back to Cincinnati and talks about moving into a new apartment and living on his own. He also talks about his busy summer whether it's working at Home Depot or going on vacations. We even have an interesting conversation about water!
Carter was unavailable for this episode but we still have an interesting guest in Matt Booker. Matt attends the University of Cincinnati and we were happy that he was able to join the podcast despite his busy summer. How busy? Matt takes summer classes - including a three hour calculus course - while also working two jobs. While it may seem like a busy summer, Matt has found ways to go on vacation and hang out with friends. Hamza also asks Matt what he misses from high school such as classes and teachers.
A special guest has joined us in this double episode week as Imran Malik - who is running for Dublin City School Board - joins the podcast to talk about who he is and why this election is important to him. Even though it is an odd year and not Presidential elections or midterm elections which get more attention, it is still election time and there are important positions to fill. If you are in the Dublin, Ohio area, learn more about the candidates and help Imran win. To learn more about his campaign, visit www.electimranmalik.com.
We are back after a few weeks and our first guest is Zahin Shaifur who is a close friend of Hamza's. He wanted to be on the podcast so when the opportunity came, it was an easy decision to have him on. We talk about what summer has been for all of us and because Hamza and Zahin are Muslim, the two talk about what they will be during the holiday. Hamza is doing the podcast from Philadelphia again. This is the first of two episodes being released this week.
Liam Shipcott is technically back on the podcast. He was supposed to be our guest back in April but forgot about the podcast and the episode never happened. He is here and the three talk about his experiences in college. Liam currently attends Columbus State Community College and planning on attending Ohio State in a few years. When not studying for college, he loves working on cars. Who knows, maybe we'll see one of his cars in the new Fast & Furious movie?
We have another guest from our AP Statistics class in Tori Martin. This is a unique episode in that despite knowing her from that class, we have rarely or Hamza's case never talked to her before. However, that did not stop us from having interesting conversations such as Tori's love for coffee. We also talk about her interesting story as to why she chose to attend Miami University (OH) and the major she chose to pursue. To end the episode, Tori gives advice to the Class of 2021 as they get ready for their first year of college soon.
