This week I start discussing the Weight of Glory, one of CS Lewis's most famous writings and sermons. Its significance in my own life and faith has compounded over the years. I hope that I can do it justice here.

This week I'm reflecting a bit on the beginning of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair and explain the two big ideas I think are present here in Lewis's imagery: one is about a stream, and the other is about learning to read signs. 

This book by Justin McRoberts is a firm response to the common phrase we all use when life doesn't go the way we want it to: "It is what it is." Though this phrase might be our way of coping, McRoberts doesn't think this is actually helping anything. Instead, he thinks it is what we make of it. 

This is one of my favorite images that Lewis uses to explain the Christian faith. I hope I did it enough justice to get the wheels turning.

This book is a collection of sermons by the late Eugene Peterson, primarily known in most circles as the author of "the Message," and this sermon in particular focuses in on the book of Revelation and our expectations of how God works in the world and our lives. Definitely give it a listen and DEFINITELY get this to read.

This week's book builds on what Merton covered in Seeds of Contemplation, so I think you'll enjoy this if you did that. 

Definitely getting a little deep here this week: Who are you? Who am I? 

I first read this chapter by Merton back in November of 2019 during a difficult season of my life, and this gave me some helpful tools and language to think about where I was and where I was going. It was especially helpful as it was just before the pandemic and quarantine began. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Merton was the man! I love this book and you will probably be hearing a lot about it from me. The insight Merton gives into "everyday" kind of things is so so good. I hope it's as thought provoking for you as it is for me.
