Coffee with Alain discussing Lunar New Year, Korea, Tigers and Rabbits, Siegfried and Roy, Peace, Hope, and Screw the Commute Summit.
Happy Lunar New Year! As the Year of the Tiger ends and the Year of the Rabbit begins, I hope it brings peace and hope to all of us. May you have a peaceful and prosperous year. My tiger cup today is from Siegfried and Roy, and I actually bought that cup the same day that Roy was injured. I was flying home from Vegas than night when it actually happened. I didn't get a chance to see their show, just saw the tigers and bought the cup. Wish I'd been able to see their show. I encourage you to visit new countries and experience holidays that you don't have in your country, or just experience how others celebrate that might be different from your culture and customs. In the video I share some of my experiences with holidays in Korea. Great time and great food! Remember, the Screw the Commute Summit starts tomorrow and I'm one of the speakers tomorrow.
Coffee with Alain discussing Las Vegas trip with Reflex Protect and the Screw the Commute Summit. The SHOT Show with Reflex Protect was a huge success. Made lots of contacts and had a lot of interest in Reflex Protect's unique defensive spray and decontaminate. Looking forward to a successful 2023! Wanted to give more information on the Screw the Commute Summit that starts on Monday, January 23rd. Sign up for free and check out the sessions that can help your business.
Coffee with Alain discussing a safety tip AGT. Sharing a little safety tip while walking down the Las Vegas Strip on my way to be interviewed by Montana Talks regarding Reflex Protect at the SHOT Show. Found a lady's wallet when we went to the Luxor last night to see the AGT Live Show. Make sure you keep track of your belongings, especially your wallet and other important things. Losing your ID, cash, and credit cards is a sure way to dampen your enjoyment on a trip. Personally, I really like deep pockets or pockets with zippers for my wallet when I'm traveling or on trips.
Coffee with Alain discussing a life philosophy.
Working the Reflex Protect boot at SHOT Show. Getting a lot of traffic and keeping us busy all day. It's great that people are actually looking for Reflex Protect and seeking us out, not just the people passing by.
Great show, working all day, and then we were out late at Harrah's Piano Bar till after 1:00 a.m. A lot of fun out at the bar, and that's the key. Work Hard and Play Hard. Enjoy what you are doing and make sure you have fun along the way.
Enjoy Life! Enjoy it safely!
Coffee with Alain discussing SHOT Show, Condor, Gov. of Montana Greg Gianforte and what are you doing?
Short little show about SHOT Show today. Shout out to Condor Outdoor who contacted me before the show and set aside a really nice Swag Bag for me. Had some really cool stuff in it, including a Kershaw Auto Knife.
Had breakfast with the Governor of Montana, Greg Gianforte, and other Montanans down at the SHOT Show.
Coffee with Alain discussing the Screw the Commute Summit, Las Vegas, and the SHOT Show.
I will be one of the speakers during the Screw the Commute Summit from January 23-27, 2023. I'll be on Monday the 23rd. Check it out and sign up for free.
Shot Show is starting off with a bang! Much bigger than last year. Check out Reflex Protect at booth #30306
Coffee with Alain discussing Martin Luther King Jr.; MLJ quote related to success, safety and life; Las Vegas; and the Delta mistake on yesterday's trip.
Here in Las Vegas and enjoying life safely. Yesterday's travel went well except for Delta not knowing I flew from Missoula to SLC and giving my seat on the flight to Las Vegas to someone else. (And then the guy they gave my seat to was sort of a jerk when I asked if I could sit in my original seat beside my wife.) Anyway, we made it and enjoyed our evening in Vegas. I still don't understand how they didn't know I was there, as I checked in, checked bags and they even upgraded me when I was boarding the plane. Sort of scary from a security standpoint if they don't know who is on the plane. But as I said in the video, I have had a lot of great experiences with Delta, just not yesterday.
MLK Quote: "If you can't fly, then run, if you can't run, then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward."
- Martin Luther King Jr.
Isn't that a great quote for success, safety, self-defense, survival and life in general? You have to keep moving forward!
Coffee with Alain sharing a travel tip from the SLC airport.
Being as fit as you can, and keeping yourself in shape will make travel easier and more enjoyable. It will also help keep you safe and enable you to respond to an emergency more easily.
If you are changing planes at the SLC airport, it's a good walk from terminal A to B, so being in shape will make it easier. I've had to run the distance to catch flights a couple of times (made it once, had to stay the night in SLC another time).
Make sure to include exercise into your daily routine to keep yourself in shape so you can travel and enjoy life more easily and be better prepared for emergencies as well.
Coffee with Alain sharing a couple Safety and Self-Defense tips from Alain's Kindle book "101 Safety and Self-Defense Tips: Lessons From The Experts."
Started out with one of my Lion King cups, a great movie that I saw when it first came out, and then saw more times when my daughter was growing up.
Safety Tip: Here is one of the tips I shared in this morning's Coffee with Alain show and is in the video above:
Aggressiveness In defense we do not initiate violence. We must grant our attacker the vast advantage of striking the first blow, or at least attempting to do so. But thereafter we may return the attention with what should be overwhelming violence. "The best defense is a good offense." This is true, and while we cannot apply it strictly to personal defensive conduct, we can propose a corollary: "The best personal defense is an explosive counter-attack."
- Jeff Cooper, The Principles Of Personal Defense
Coffee with Alain discussing One Hit Wonders and Your Success and a situational awareness drill for you to do.
Sometimes all you need is one hit. If you haven't had your hit yet, keep at it until you do! Of course, if you have had a hit, keep working at another one. But sometimes all we need is one.
Safety Homework: Go out today, or the next time you can go out to a public place (restaurant, mall, supermarket, etc.), and take a minute to identify: 1. All of the exits and ways out. 2. Where the fire extinguishers and other emergency supplies may be (first aid kits, AED Defibrillator Systems, etc.) 3. Pick a person and identify how you would describe them to law enforcement if you had to. What clothes, including shoes, what features, etc. Everything you can describe so they could be found and identified if needed.
Doing little exercises like this can help you improve your situational awareness and increase your safety so you can get out and enjoy life.
